Hey ssjnimma and anyone who has taken out the stock radio, I've been trying to figure out how to get the audio unit out. I've read the factory manual and it says put the shift into N and slide the knob cover down. Problem 1.... the knob cover won't slide down. I have an SL and the shift knob is chrome knob. The knob appears to be 1 piece. Are SLs different than the base and the S models? Anyways, my objective is to get to the hole/lid cover at the very top of the "cluster C". Any tools recommended to slide between the gaps to pry it out without damaging the audio unit or the lid? Any help is greatly appreciated. Pictures would be great if possible. Thanks!

Yea, I don't know about kamau212 but I'm stuck. If you could take pics and do a write up on how to remove the audio unit, that would be great! It'll be nice to put up more guides for the B16 Sentras. Thanks 08sentra2.0sl!

gforever, I would, however I am not by any means experienced enough to do a write up. I will do some digging to see what i can find do help.

The adapter btw is a line output converter. JIC someone wanted to know.

found something here..http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 434AATL63x

look in the trim, under the dash, any small little caps.

japanese people are tricky.. sometimes they will have small, dime sized caps that pop off - and underneath are the screws.

shouldn't be too hard

hope it helps

2. remove big grey plastic surrounding the shift knob and dash area; not the piece that has "P R N D L", but the whole piece. It is just held on by clips so get a flat head screw driver and it will pop off...(note, you will have to disconnect wiring so do NOT yank it off.

3. now remove the climate controls, this piece just pops right off too. You wil have to unplug things here too so do not yank too hard.
Alright so I'm trying to swap my stock radio out and am still struggling with this... Yea first timer... So here's the furthest I got so far.....

1) I finally got the chrome piece piece off by using brute force to slide it down. The metal clip easily comes loose if you use a flat head but be careful not to lose it.

2) Next, you can use your fingernails to pop the trim off.

However, I can't seem to get a good grip on the 2 wires with a white and brown end. Any tips?

Thanks.

You don't have to take out them wires, with that shifter piece separated just pull the AC control plastic and it will come right off.You are going to have 2 screws under that and 2 screws on top of the console (have to remove cover on top of the console), after that the radio console will come right off, could do it with my eyes closed, that's how many times I've done this.

Finally got the AC piece out without taking out the wires. Pull the AC piece upwards and out.

That's amazing that you've removed the radio so many times. How do you get the top cover off without damaging the plastic piece? Thanks.

I get bored, 5 th radio I changed already on this car.I used a real flat and thin screwdriver ,do it slow and with patience and the plastic cover will come out without damage.

Trying to put in a Pioneer. I finally got the freakin radio out BUT the last step I couldn't do which was to remove the unit from the plastic trim... I don't have the right screw driver... can anyone identify what type of screw driver I need from this pic? Thanks.

I don't remember what type of screw was there but if it's not one of your normal ones then you probably need a Torx screwdriver with the correct bit size.

Torx is correct, between 20 and 30 in size, great job.
