I am seriously considering buying a new, 2008 Pathfinder LE. I've noticed a few postings where people are saying that the truck downshifts abruptly at 40mph. Is that true or a random incident?

I've never noticed that on any of the test drives I've been on whether it be an 05, 06 and now and 08. Can someone shed some light on what they are referring to?

Is the 08 Pathfinder a great investment? I have a great offer on the table and all I have to do is say ok and the truck is mine but I am hesitant now that I read that "shifting" remark.

No new vehicle is a great investment, every one will depreciate (except for a few exceptions, not including a pathfinder).

I do I think they are good trucks. Get the v8 if you get one

Welcome to NICO and good luck on the Pathfinder. The pathfinder owners who come through the dealership for service tend to love them and have very few complaints. I say go for it.

I have a 08 Pathfinder and I love it. It nothing like the Z that I traded in but it is a lot better in the snow.
