Hi,

BLUF: Right front power window stopped working, should I go ahead and buy a new motor or reassemble it all and try out the new switch?

I have a 2008 Nissan Armada LE and recently during a move across the country, the right front passenger side power window decided to stop working in the down position when we were in the middle of nowhere in the rain. I was in a pinch due to our move so I ended up finding a mechanic in a small town that helped me unhook the window from the receiver and prop it up so that we could continue our journey.

When the mechanic was helping me out, he mentioned that the window switch was probably the culprit, however after doing some research online and hooking up a new switch, I believe that its actually the window motor that has gone out. Everything was disconnected inside the door and a bunch of junk got shoved in and the window got duct taped to ensure it would hold. So, my issue is that I'm not quick to pull out all that stuff and put the window back down until I'm sure I'll be able to fix it at that time.

I've already bought a new switch and replaced the old one with it, but I feel that the switch isn't the problem because prior to replacing the switch the power lock control on the switch still worked, and now that I have the new switch hooked up I notice know difference that leads me to believe that the motor will now work. I even popped off the door panel again and put my ear and hand against where the motor is while manipulating the new window switch to see if I could detect movement, but nothing.

So, like my BLUF says, should I go ahead and buy a new motor and try to return the switch, or am I being silly and the new switch will most likely fix it?

Thanks.
