Here is the infamous volunteer list for the upcoming NICOfest Drift/autocross at Carlisle. I broke everything down into hour slots to share the pain. We hope everyone can volunteer for a coupleslots. If you are planning to drift only, we ask if you could please helpduring the autocross, and vice versa. If you want to do both, that’s great. With the track operating for so many hours, I’m sure you and your car will need a few breaks to cool off.

If you’re volunteering. please give yourself enough time topark your car, and get out to your position. So you might want tocut back a couple minutes of your run group. We want maximumtrack time for everyone. But we can’t accomplish that unless we haveour volunteers in place.

Here are the positions:: Tech inspector: working a simple checklist for each driver/car/helmet, you don’t need to be a mechanic. The checklist should take about 2 minutes per car to complete. The only physical labor involved will be torquing lug nuts. Bringing a torque wrench would be helpful.

Registration: Once a participant passes tech, they will register. It’s very easy. Involves getting all the waivers signed and filed, checking drivers licenses for age 18 min., issuing car numbers and wristbands.Corner workers: for safety, alerting for knocked down cones, resetting them, watching for debris, spin outs, fluids, etc and reporting them to the starter . Each worker will be issued a safety vest, flag, and possibly a walkie talkie. Starter: In charge of safety/launching. The starter coordinates with corner workers/lap timer, plus double checks for tech stickers on the cars and that the drivers have their helmets on before launching them.

Sweeper: Since drifters will occasionally use more than just the track, they may kick upsome stones/debris onto the track, This job is simply a one lap walk to toss/kick/ sweep the debris off the line, after the last drifter finishes and before the first autocrosser begins. We’ll also be setting up the cones during this period as well. It only takes a couple minutes to walk the entire course. Brooms will be supplied.

Both tech and registration will be located at the NICOfest tent beside the track, so there should be plenty of chairs and shade during your shift.

Please just reply to this thread and let me know which slots you’d be interested in helping and I’ll update it. There will be no corner workers needed during the drifting, just sweepers after the last drifter finishes.

Any questions, please let know on this thread. Thank you very much for your help.

Thanks, I really appreciate that.

Everyone, please pick out a spot or two or three and let me know where you can help out. There's a lot of track time to cover.

Thanks.

I'll be around Saturday and Sunday with a bunch of guys. None of us have really done Auto-X before, but we all know cars.

Tech/reg/sweeping/etc sound pretty good. You can a couple hours between us.

Hey guys, I live 10 minutes from Carlisle and I will be there all weekend... I'd love to tech cars and I am a mechanic so I have a torque wrench. I can give you all day friday till about 3pm, but saturday and sunday I'm completely free so I'll be there the entire time! I'm excited to to meet all you guys. This will actually be my FIRST Nico event.

Can't wait... Too bad my new motor won't be done by then so I won't be showing up in my S14...

I appreciate that. Any preference on what you'd like to do? We'll probably need corner workers during autocross

We can possibly exchange numbers when the time gets closer. Tech or Reg is good for me, but whatever you need help with, doesn't matter much.

Thanks for your help. The main gates open at 8am on Saturday. We'll probably open up the track around 9am or so. Saturday will likely be the most crowded day, so I'd recommend an earlier arrival than later, but it's really up to you.

Bubba, you never quoted me. Just making sure you saw my post higher up.

Myself, my friend Tommy (is a Nico member, but I forget his name) and Loki are most likely rolling in together Saturday morning and will be around to pitch in. Free track time, so I'll sweep up or whatever.

Just making sure. I want to do my part in exchange for NICO doing this.

I was wondering if your gonna be around at all this week to chat for a couple minutes. I've seen you post about being an instructor and doing some track days. I'm really interested in getting an SCCA/Comp license kind of thing so I can do open lapping track days.

Yeah, I'll be there to help with anything. This is honestly my first time on a track so I can't say I can help with anything remotely complex...but I follow orders well
