From what i've heard, the body line at the bottom of the tail light is different but I can not confirm.

OP, Im 99% positive you can do it... tail lights are a little different yes, but if you follow the lines of the bumper they're the same as the 2006's. The trunk & quarter panel are different. If I dont get a body kit I'm getting an 08+ rear sport bumper stay tuned.

If you want to speed up the process donate some money to me for R&D and we could find it out sooner...

The 2008-2010 rear bumpers will not fit on a 2006-2007 model without extreme amounts of fabrication. The tail light assemblies are actually quite different in size and shape and the curvature of the sides and underpinning are different between the two models. You'd have to purchase the bumper itself and two 2008+ taillights, then have a body shop or, if you're competent enough, yourself fabricate exterior paneling over the C-pillar to fill the large gap that is now there from the taillight swap as well as shave down the rear bumper impact impact absorber to properly fit the new bumper onto the vehicle. I have not studied how the sides of the rear bumper differ, but I'd imagine that you'd need to do some adjustments in order to allow the new bumper to properly and securely wrap around the 2006-2007 bumper assembly. Really, your only option is to purchase an aftermarket rear body kit.

Here's a ramdom picture from the internet from an 08+ sport bumper... I dont know how to articulate this & I dont know how to use photoshop to alter pix etc, but basically look at the top outline of the bumper right below the tail lights & compare them to the picture of my rear bumper... they seem identical, however, do look on top of the tail lights & notice how the quarter panel has more room above the tail light & actually wraps around it, definitely different but the base of the tail lights is also identical the only difference is the height because even the curve on both tail lights sits around the same spot, so basically Nissan just shorten the tails... but has nothing to do with the bumper. And obviously you have the seemingly different trunk, which IS NOT the case, that's why I said seemingly... I do know this by personal experience, the trunk is probably also the SAME, the thing that changes is an extra panel that sits on top of the trunk, it's basically a layer of plastic over the trunk which I cant articulate but Eric probably could as he has experience with it as well. I have experience with the part of the trunk because I did the fuga tails swap myself & it was a PITA. So IMO, the only physical differences of our rear ends are the tail lights, the quarter panel & possibly only the layer that goes over the trunk but not the trunk itself.

I did say I was 99% sure, but only because I havent tried it... if somebody HAVE TRIED to do this, by all means come forward & elaborate...

Of course anything is possible with an endless amount of money and time, but be aware that this project would not be a seemless replacement and would require quite a but of cutting - both into the sheet metal AND your resale value.

^What're u talking about Eric??? I feel like doing this just to prove how wrong u are... u keep pointing UP ABOVE THE TAIL LIGHTS what does that have to do with the bumper bro? and that flap that you're saying "curves inward" is irrelevant as the actual bumper HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT PART, that was just a thing to make the bumper cover more appealing...

Also once again go into infinitipartsusa.com and not only are BOTH bumpers (impact bars i.e. bumper reinforcement) the same price but the illustrations for 06/07 & 08+ are the same... You could go into ur database & check if they're interchangeable! Also if the 08+ bumper reinforcement is shorter than 06/07 as you implied, why would a body shop need to cut into the bumper at all? It would be the exact opposite... adding (metal, by welding) to the bumper would possibly be needed for the bumper cover not to sag. Basically a body shop would need to stiffen the bumper cover in the parts were there's a gap (1") to be filled by the shortness of the 06/07 bumper reinforcement... if this is the case, as you think.

If you have tried this, which is most likely not the case since you havent mentioned it, then say so... I try not to speak out my a$$ brother, and I said I almost got this done (with this very same bumper) before I decided to possibly buy a body kit instead, and I went as far as discussing this with a buddy of mine who owns a body shop, I told him how they were supposed to be different, he made a couple of calls & told me it was a simple swap or one with minor adjustments, but 99% pending having the bumper cover in hand. He also mentioned it might've been easier & cleaner than the front bumper cover btw.

Finally, you & me both know something most guys dont know about our trunks... which is that plastic layer right over it. Isnt that another telltale sign that even the trunk might be the exact same shape & the only thing that differs in shape is that platic layer??

Blanco I don't even have the time to reply to this again.. If that's what you believe then fine, you may very well be right, but I believe that it will be far from an easy replacement. Let's hope someone does this and can report back on how it went. :)

P.S. Don't take my replies in this thread the wrong way.. I actually do hope you are right in this case because this is a modification that I would like to do on my own car, but I'm not going to be a guinea pig for it :gapteeth:

^^I dont take nothing the wrong way over the internet bro... I've been exposed to a different perspective of life that not too many ppl have experience, to be geting mad over the internet, lol. I actually like to piss ppl off sometimes, see their reaction & then laugh at them... lol...

^Thanks sunoco, good job... I'll still refer to it as a "plastic layer" tho... lol.. Nonetheless, to anybody who's reading this, that piece of abs plastic sunoco pointed out holds the small pcs of our tail lights that go on the "trunk" & MIGHT be the only thing that's different from 08- & 08+ trunks on our cars & it's a PITA to get it off.

I have to look at it again, but it might not be that hard to take off.....

Its held on with 7 nuts, which i believe are accessible when you take the INNER trunk lid finisher off ( they seem like nuts to nowhere, lol. i was wondering what they were for...) and 6 pieces of double sided tape (the dark spots on the edges in above picture).

I want to remove the chrome pieces attached to the finisher, so I will be atempting this soon I hope. Ill take pics if it works out.....

thanks for the " good job" blanco, even though it seemed like you were bein an a**

At least you're optimistic brother... dream on tho.

I took several hours installing my fuga tails & most of that time was trying to figure out how not to brake this thing, true story, I really didnt want to spend money buying something I broke for trying to go too fast... Eric broke his... food for thought.

yeah I know, but I'd rather drop them off instead of waiting while they paint it or dropping the car off....

as far as the "rice", i was refering to the fuga tails...

I seriously think I can have it off in under 1 hour....

I've also took that trunk lid off my car too take my lights out to tint them and to be honest if I knew ahead of time how big of a pain it was I wouldn't of bothered. It's a s*** load of screws a bunch of double sided tape. if you never done it before I highly recommend you go with caution cuz it's very fragile and you'll probably snap it in pieces. My advice be very patient and careful

And if this bumper swap does work it's going on rite with the 08 bumper and grille I have waiting and will solve me having to buy a new 06 bumper and lip add on. So can't wait to see results

We're discussing the rear bumper on this thread... not the front bumper... the 08+ front bumper's been done by some people already, me included.

Yea I know it's for the back bumper I already have the 08 front bumper I'm just waiting to put it on. I wanna do it all at once my rear bumper has to be replaced it has a crack by the quarter panel I've been slacking on buying it but hopefully that 08 rear bumper works because my slacking would be worth it.

By the way I like the wheels you have for sale wish you would of put up earlier before I invested money into other objects for the car. But if you do go to bags let me know I'd love to swap my espilars out n buy your coilovers

Oh ok, now I got ya... nd thanks for the wheel compliment. About the coilovers they're kinda spoken for already but obviously if that falls through I will put them up for sale... however, be advised that they may not work for your X model... but then again everything else has worked for the X model, lmao...
