2008 M35 Trunk

Is the trunk on a 2008 M35 supposed to open to full when I unlock the trunk? Mine just "clicks" and then I have to pull it open to full. It stays open once I open it up all the way, but the struts do not open the trunk by themselves. Is this the way its supposed to work? Thanks

Yes.

I've seen at least one mod to make it open all the way if you search the forums.

Yes, that is normal for it to just click and you have to use manual labor (God forbid) to open your trunk.

The mod however....if I'm not mistaken is not easy to do if it requires the replacement of one of the trunk struts for a spring loaded one. That being the back seat has to be removed to replace the trunk struts. If that is no big deal for you, then by all means go for it. There have been many members here that have removed their back seat to replace worn out trunk struts.It's not hard, just a little time consuming. Your efforts will pay off in the end.

I take back what I said in my last post......... I guess the trunk shock mounts are no longer attached like the 03' & 04' M45 are. This should be an easy upgrade as since 06' the trunk shocks are all mounted withing the trunk lid area on the sides. Should be very easy to upgrade the struts.
