Hello fellow M owners-

About 4 months ago I purchased a 2008 infiniti M35 rwd.

I check my fluids about once a month, an this morning when I checked them I noticed that my engine coolant was almost to the min. line.

When I was reading the owners manual it said to use "Genuine NISSAN Long Life
Antifreeze/Coolant (green)" or Equivalent

I went to advance autoparts today and bought some pre mixed 50/50 Peak Long Life antifreeze, and it said it is compatible with all makes and models.

My concern is that because it is not OEM that it won't be as high a quality or that it will not be compatible with the M's radiator system.

Has anyone ever used this product before, or have any feedback??

Thanks in advance!

You're probably fine...but just an FYI when I had a Maxima, most of the guys on that forum used either Toyota OEM (red), Honda OEM (blue), or Nissan OEM (green). They are all the same formula I guess, just different colors and prices.

Ive seen posts in here and on the NIssan forums that state Prestone and Peak are compatible.
I know when I had my gear box flushed and filled, it turned out Nissan transmission fluid is made by Castrol and then re-labelled with the Nissan logo and all the dramatic warnings about not substituting it with anything BUT Nissan fluid.
I reckon it's the same with coolant as well - probably made by Prestone or Peak and then re-labelled as Nissan.
One thing I remember about coolant is do NOT use Dex-Cool (GM) as it supposedly causes deterioration of seals and forms sludge and such in our cars.

Thank you both!
I figured it was fine but having a second or third opinion is always helpful.

you're fine with Peak..that's what I have in my cooling system now. I changed out the radiator a couple of months back and filled the new radiator with Peak....no issues. Just be sure to 'burp' the system....there's a pressure relief nob/valve near the rear of the engine (by the firewall). It takes a Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew...allow some coolant to seep out then close it back up

**EDIT*** just noticed you have an 08 M35, it might be the same location, but double check with the owner's manual or Google.

You're better off playing it safe and just buying the coolant from the dealership. It should cost around $19.99 plus tax. Something seemingly as simple as coolant can reak havoc on the vehicle's cooling system and performance. Particulary when it comes to how sensitive Nissan's engines are.

And because you're in FL, based on your name...I recommend a bottle of water wetter to be safe.
