Is the Iphone able to connect to the 2008 M35 system without an adapter or do I need to install something for the two to be compatible?

It does. The only issue with the new iOS is that phone doesn't connect half the time...

As the person above me said. THe phone is likely to work, but cant say for sure because Apple likes to change things and cause compatibility problems all the time.

My apologies - let me clarify. I can talk on the phone through the bluetooth, but I would like to connect my I-Phone (Music), so that I can access my play list. Originally, I thought this could also be done through bluetooth, but that doesnt seem to be the case.

AHHH now I understand...I'm not too well versed on the 08+ plus M's. I do know that the bluetooth in our cars is solely for phone audio. I was under the impression that the newer models came with an ipod aux port though that wouldn't allow u the functionality of controlling the playlists through the headunit..

In order to gain control through the stock radio I would think you'd need an iPod adapter kit...

I think you're right. I was hoping that I could find a cord that I could plug into the armrest, but it looks like I need to install an adapter kit. I wanted to double check that the adapter is the only option, or is there a cord/connector out there that I can buy.

I understand. My recommendation is in fact an adapter kit if the functionality is what u're after. I've never heard of a cord for the M that would allow u to control the ipod in the manner u're looking for...

I think the 08+ comes with the iPod integration you just need the adapter cord. Check your owners manual..

The iphone connects to the ipod cord and scroll through the radio functions(cd,aux, radio, ect) and you should be able to play your music. goodluck!!!
