Hi all,

I own a 2008 Nissan Rogue. Thus far I've been very happy with it. Lately though, when pressing the horn from the steering wheel, nothing happens. It started intermittently but now its stopped working altogether.

Interestingly enough though, the horn does work when I use the keyless entry remote to lock the doors.

Has anyone had this experience or know of a remedy for this issue? I use the horn often because of the awful drivers in Atlanta.

Well there's two places to check.

1. up front near the horn itself (more likely) that a wire got chewed up and is either grounding out intermittently
2. Wiring behind the steering wheel (clock spring) got chewed up

Option 2 is highly unlikely since it was designed to be twisted and pulled all over the place, so very slim chance of stripping wires. I'd have my money on either a bad ground or a hot wire grounding out. Pop the hood and look at the horn and trace back wires. You might be surprised to find that squirrels like chewing wires. They ate my insulation under the old car AND chewed through the entire engine harness. Pesky bastards.

I'll check later today but I am conflicted in that the horn works 100% from the keyless entry remote but not from the steering wheel. If the wires were compromised at the horn, I'd imagine that neither the pressing of the steering wheel nor pushing on the remote would make any sound.

Confused...
