Hey guys! I've noticed that the grille on my '08 AC has started to fade a little bit. It just isn't as dark as it used to be. Does anyone know what I could do to restore it? Is there a type of paint I should use? If painting it is the route I should take, how should I prep and take off the grille? Sorry, I'm not the most experienced person in this area so I probably sound like an idiot :chuckle:

I'd look into Turtle Wax Trim Restorer. It's like a black dye you apply with a sponge. It does work but it will dye your entire life black so work with it carefully. I would suggest taking the grille off of the car to work on it. The alternative would be Plasti Dip. Not sure if you are familiar with it but its a spray-able plastic. Really durable stuff. Some people use it for their entire cars or rims and what not. The Dip maybe harder to get even on the Honeycomb because of all of the corners. I'd go with the Trim Restorer first.

Again, wear gloves. Work carefully. It can and will dye everything.

I researched the trim restorer as well as the Meguiar's version and it looks like it would be amazing for most trim pieces but it says that it leaves a glossy/shiny look. I'm not sure the grille would turn out looking like I want if it was glossy. I think the plasti dip is a great idea since it leaves more of a matte finish. Thanks!
