I stored my G37S all winter... and didn't disconnect the battery, so naturally, it discharged, and wouldn't hold a charge.

So I went to the local auto parts store, they looked up my car and gave me a replacement battery, and I installed it. Car starts up just fine now, but there is one huge problem.

Whenever I open the doors after shutting the car off, instead of lowering the windows a tiny bit and closing them tight after the door is shut, the window opens almost all the way and doesn't go back up when I shut the doors.

I had never stored a car through the winter before (obviously) and had no one to really tell me how to do things properly. It's my fault for not researching it a bit or even reading the owner's manual.

However, any help you can offer in fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated. I hope it's nothing too serious.........

Welcome to Nico.

This is a common problem when retained power is lost. You will need to perform the following procedure, it's real simple and resolves this issue.

1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.

2. Close the door.

3. Open the window completely by operating the power window switch.

4. Pull the power window switch and hold it to close the window, and then hold the switch more than 3 seconds after the window is closed completely.\

5. Release the power window switch. Operate the window by the automatic function to confirm the initialization is complete.

6. Perform steps 2 through 5 above for otherwindows.

You may also want to check the moonroof for automatic operation. Here is the procedure for resetting that.

1. If the moonroof is open, close it fully by repeatedly pushing the CLOSE side of the moonroof switch.

2. Push and hold the CLOSE side of the moonroof switch to tilt the moonroof up.

3. Release the moonroof switch after the moonroof moves slightly up and down.

4. Push and hold the OPEN side of the moonroof switch to fully tilt the moonroof down.

5. Check if the moonroof switch operates normally.

Wow steve, I bet his jaw drops when he reads that in the morning lol, good job

Since that problems solved, maybe you can throw some light my way, on my 01 Qx4, all my power windows works great n fine, but my sunroof has 2 switches, one just to send the back up for a breeze, and one to send it back.

After I put a new battery in, both switches now do the same thing, they only slide the window back AND they only do it in 3-4" intervals even if you hold the "original slide back button" thats supposed to do it auto if you click it far enough back. Hope an easy solution

I see people bring cars in all the time with these complaints and they tend to frustrate many.If there is a way I can help people help themselves with some of these things that's what I'm here for.

Your sunroof is actually very similar to the above mentioned procedure the only difference is you need to open it fully and close it by repeatedly pressing the OPEN slide button to both open and close the window fully. Once its closed press and hold the CLOSE button for ~5 seconds. That should reset the AUTO function. If not let me know and I can give you a few other pointers.

Good Luck. You've got the basic procedure. If it doesn't work the first time, shut the truck off and wait ~10 seconds and try one more time.

Steve you sound so helpful! Assuming your a technician

I have a problem that is killing me and I dont want to go on my roadtrip this weekend because of it, can you check out this thread, I got a video of the problem form someone else in there since its aparently a common problem.

I have ZERO problem giving you $10 paypal (honestly) to help me here, I was told it may be a bad relay under the hood for the starter, and that the rear defroster relay was the same so I could swap them and check. But I dont get what relay is the one thats causing the problem, only one I didnt recognize was the "ECM" labelled relay.

Anyways, Im serious Ill paypal you to make it worth your time to think of something here, my mechanic couldnt figure it out without GUESSING so I said no, and I dont have a dealership anywhere close to me

zer...video

Thank you

With all due respect you need to follow the rules of the forum and post seperate threads for problems such as this. I am also considering the last problem you had with the oil pressure/solenoid/check engine light in which you repeatedly asked for help without following anyone's advice.
