Hi everyone, newbie here. Recently purchased a 2008 Infiniti G37s Coupe with a 6 speed manual transmission. The car is in fantastic condition with 31k mikes. When the car is idling in neutral at either a stop light or anywhere else for that mater i experience a decent amount of vibration/ feedback coming from the shifter. I also experience the same thing except to a lesser degree when the vehicle is in gear and driving.
i have driven manual transmissions for the past 15 years (3 jettas, Saab 9-3, and most recently a 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5) and I haven't expereienced this before.
I noticed this on my test drives and commented to the sales guy at Infiniti and he didn't think it was abnormal, asked them to check it during the inspection and also said it was normal. I would love some feedback from those of you with the same vehicle, do you experience the same thing? If not, any idea what could be causing this? aNo other symptoms, car runs like a dream. Thanks guys.

Well small amount is ok. Has a direct linkage to the gearbox. Some of the MT guys will chime in and tell you what they have.

I appreciate the response, any additional insight would be helpful. I'm just wondering if I should push this with the dealer or not, if everyone with a 6mt experiences something similar then I'll assume its normal.

Yes, the lever does vibrate some. It must be more noticeable in a G than in other cars since reviewers often criticize it. As long as there are no other symptoms of a failing transmission, I wouldn't worry about it.

2007 G35s and it vibrates a little, during cruising (specifically on deceleration) it will get a lot of vibration. No big deal as the shifter sits right in the transmission and is pretty much just passing vibrations from the drivetrain up the shifter. If it has play in it .... now thats another story.
