recently left my 4month brand new leased 2008 g35xs out in a rain storm for the first time tonight (it was parked on an elevated incline hill) and when I got in the car after the rain had stopped I noticed that the entire driver side (front and back) floor was covered in at least 5 inches of water.... Im talking completely soaked... there was no water damage on any of the seats, dash, side panels, roof, etc... no trace of how water got in the car.. all the water was just located in the middle of the driver side floor (front and back seat)... it took me about an hour and 20 towels to get just the top levels of the water out of the car, the rest of the water is still underneath the flooring/mats etc.... which i can not get out... now I have the nasty water musty smell starting as well.....

Has anyone have any info of what happened or what to do? Obviously I am taking car to dealer on Monday since I am typing this on a sunday morning, but this mess should be covered under warranty... I mean c'mon.. this car is not gonna be the same after being water logged with all the water, etc.... again has this happened to anyone and need advice on what to do next!! thank you .. desperate and waiting

Welcome to NICO

Was your vehicle in a flood? Were there other vehicles parked near you that had a similar problem?

There is a difference between a vehicle having a leak and being involved in a flood. I'm thinking the latter? The rain from Hannah yesterday afternoon and evening was extremely heavy in some parts of NJ and caused flooding in some places.

Good luck

Welcome to Nico!Sorry, I can not understand how a car could leak 5 inches of water!AND, for it to only concentrate on the front and rear floor boards!Since it was on a hill, I have to assume that it was not involved in a flood. And, I assume that since the seats and console were not effected the sunroof and windows were shut.Got me baffled.... I did accidentally leave the sunroof of my 01 pathy open over night once and it rained that night. Had to removed the seats and console and used the shop vac to get the water out. Also, left a bunch of news papers in the car for several days, they pull the moisture out. You might want to do this too. I would also get a couple boxes of Arm&Hammer baking soda.Let us know what the dealer says.

Never heard it before. Not the amount of water you are talking about. Take it to the dealer ASAP.

thanx for all the reply guys... I appreciate it...

anyway to answer some q's that were raised....

the car was not involved in a flood, nor had it been driven through a large puddle, etc.... The night is was raining bad (this past saturday 9/6/08) the car was parked on a slight incline... the front wheels elevated upwards (just so you guys get the idea of how it was parked).... the elevation was problably maybe a 10-12 inch incline elevation at most...... the windows were not open, the sunroof was not open (trust me, nothing was left open)... from what I can ascertain is that the water must have been pouring into the vents which sit under wipers by the windshield area, then trickling into the car through an opening in the wall that seperates the foot area of the car from the engine... only the driver side floor front and back had accumulated about 5 inches of water... no water damage to the passenger side, nor any paneling throughout the car including the driver side area..... I took my car to the dealer (lynnes infiniti, bloomfield new jersey) and they were baffled at how it happened... they then stated that its probably flood damage and that they are not responsible... Are you f'n kidding me... flood damage.. to only the driver side floor area of the car but yet no under belly damage, no panel damage, no driver side doors damage no any traces of any water leakage from anywhere!!!! then the dealership tells me that they can get my car in for service to take a look at what happened a week from Monday... are you kidding me again.. 1 week driving around with a swamp in my car... the past 3 days have ruined my tint, the condensation that builds when the car is parked is accumulating and seaping into the paneling and windows... my rear window is now peeling... not too mention that the driver side seat and the electronics within the seat is sitting in the soaked floor..... its a damn mess and Ill be damned if I am gonna be responsible for this mess..... I called my insurance Geico and made a claim in which they accepted and approved (but I stressed to them that this is and should be Inifiniti's responsibility) anyway I am dropping my car off at the dealership today and they are instructed to remove all the carpeting as well as the driver seat to clean, dry and deoderize as well look for any other damage that may have resulted....

I know this happened from the car being parked on an incline... so now I have to prove and demonstrate how this happened and where the leak is coming from....

any thoughts?

the thing that pisses me off is the fact that I had my car lookin sweet... I have a black G35xs with black interior, 5% window tint all over, 20inch black onyx rims with chrome lip, 2 12inch alpine type r's with alpine pdx 600 pushing..... the car is off the hook....

I would park the car where you had it and put one of those stationary sprinklers on a towel on the hood of your car.

Vary the angle until you get water inside.

Although, doing this would cause the problem all over again.

This is one of those automotive mysteries. Sorry about this horrible episode of "who got my car wet and bothered"? I use Geico too, and they are very good. I hope this gets resolved fast and satifactorily. don't bother with the dealer---let Geico take care of them. Geico has all the time in the world to test and see how such a thing could have happened to the car. You don't have to prove a thing to the dealer.

Hopefully you'll be able to get rid of all the moisture, and not have to deal with the smell or mold etc. down the road! Good luck

That really sucks but if they really push you to prove it, then perhaps go meet with the fire chief. Ask if they can attempt to recreate the heavy rain storm against your vehicle parked in the same place from a fire engine in return for a nice contribution to the Nutley Fire department?

If yes invite the sevice manager, the media and me.

This I gotta see and I'll bring my camera

After the dealer here scratched my windshield putting on Dia-mon fusion,, they had to replace it, hence they didn't seal it right!! It took me awhile to find the leaks ,but it leaked all along the A-pillers,, and would have ran down to the floor,, all i did was spray it with a garden hose,, they had the inner roof and alot of the interior out of the car.. good luck with this,,, I hope you get a new car out of this,,, to much of your interior got wet, imo.....
