I am looking to do a brake upgrade on my 2008 G35x that I just purchased. It has the sport package but from what I have been reading it does not seem that this has the upgraded brakes. Am I correct on this? Also if not i would like to know where would be the best place to purchase the Akebono brake kit or Brembo? also would it be better to just use one of these or try to fork out twice the money for a Stoptech or Brembo Aftermarket kit? I appreciate the advise.

If you have those calipers then you have the sport brake setup. If not, then you can get an upgrade via tunerzstore.com.

Akebono > Brembo

The 08 sedan didn't come with that option even for the sport package. The x sport models don't come with those brakes even now.

I just added the kit to our site, front page.

Good point, i was not thinking about the 2008 options and you are absolutely correct. Just as with my '07 the sport edition G35's didn't have Akebono's.

Awesome thank you guys. I will be looking at getting the Akebonos this summer. I cannot wait. This is my first Infiniti. I have a friend who has an 07 G35 but he doesnt do any tuning with it. I ended up getting this one with only 36k on it and with the Sport, Premium and Nav packages. I will post some pictures up soon. I work a whole lot so I have to find the time.

Will the Akebonos fit ok with the Sport 18'' Rims that come on the 08 G35xS?

No, the stock 18's won't work unless you get at least 15mm spacers.

Here's a Akebono install how-to: http://www.infinitig37.com/akebono-big-brake-swap.html

And a spacer install how-to: http://www.infinitig37.com/spacer-install.html

Awesome Thank you Audtatious.

I hope to be upgrading to 19'' Rims this summer as well, or next summer. I have read through quite a bit on this forum but I do not understand much about the offsets. With 19'' Rims that have a lip, what kind of offset should I be aiming for? Also on the brake upgrade will I need the billet brackets for the 08 G35xs Sedan? I thought I read that you did not need this bracket for the sedan.

Also what does it cost for Good Spacers with the extended lug nut bolts?

You will want the DRM H&R spacers. Spacers is something I say pay for the quality. Your not looking at much difference. You are looking at around 100 - 125 per pair.

One more question. Since I have the AWD model, when I buy my rims will I be able to go to a 19x9.5 in the rear and 19x8.5 in the front or will this mess things up because of the AWD?

As long as the tire circumference is within, say, 5% you should be fine.

If I get 19'' Rims for my G35xS, what offset should I go with and especially since I will also being doing the Akebono Brake upgrade with larger rotors? Also I know I asked but when you say within 5% for the size and width of the rim would I be better off with 19 x 9.5 in the rear and 19 x 8.5 up front or 19 x 10 in the rear and 19 x 9.5 up front? I am not all that certain on the sizing especially with the AWD and the size chart that I have looked over did not really help me.

Factory G35xS (and G37xS) rims are 45mm front and 50mm rear offsets. The factory 19" wheels are 43mm front and 45mm rear offset.

On the front you will face issues with clearing the Akebono's and unless you happen to get lucky you should buy offsets that allow for spacers that allow clearance. It all depends on the rim/spoke design on how much of a spacer you will need. On the back you won't need spacers with the Akebono's so you can simply get the right offset. I have not worked on my sedans suspension so I really don't want to suggest rim and spacer settings as I don't 100% know. Hopefully someone else will tell you what they are running.

For sizing tires use the above link. Plug in the factory tire size and mess with the new size until they are as close as possible....As an example, the G35s sedan has 225-50-18 tires in the front stock. If I went to 19" wheels then I would use 245-40-19 which is only 0.5% too fast and would work fine.
