Hello Guys,

I recently purchased a 2008 G35x with about 40k on it. It is the X AWD model. The dealership told me to change the transmission fluid every 60k, but I thought the manual said every 30k?

They quoted me a whopping 350 to do just the transmission flush. I know that you have to use the Matic-J fluid, but is this as simple as draining and refilling? They claim you have to do a "flush". Looks like on the transmission pan there is a draincock where I can drain out the old fluid and add new. How hard is this? I also cannot find the dipstick so if someone could point me in the direction of that, that would be great :).

What about the differentials and transfer case? Are they user serviceable? 60k miles or sooner? What kinds of fluids do they require?

I appreciate the input guys, I have searched but haven't found really direct answers on my questions. Thanks.

There isn't a dipstick... but you can do it in a garage. As for the diff...not sure on the specifics. The owners manual may have fluid type info.

Well where do you fill it? How do you know when it is full. Ill check the manual again, but I thought that I didn't see it in there.

I have 2009 G37X and noticed same thing when changing my oil and decided to check transmission fluid...couldn't find a dipstick and manual says to take to your dealer for checking fluid and changing. My guess is that this is a "sealed" system and you really don't need to touch unless you notice fluid leaking or it's time for changing/flushing. I'm not sure how it's done though; probably a vent point somewhere.

Took my 08 G35X to my local Nissan dealer for the transmission flush....was closer to $200.
Check your local Nissan dealer.
Also, check to see if they have any coupons online before you take it in.
Had Nissan check my transfer and diff at 50K miles and they said the fluids looked good. Had them note it on my receipt.

There is absolutely an transmission Dip stick.(on my '06, every G I've seen has one.) sounds gross...
N E Way- it is behind the manifold, 3-4 inches down and has a bolted on cap. Just reach and feel.
undo the 10mm and pull. do not drop this little 10mm, it will drop down in to neverland....
As for the flush- its done w/ a special pump and yes the AWD needs the flush every 15k.
That may sound frequent, but this is quiet expensive gear and worth the money to
maintain rather than replace. I change my trans fluid every 5k.
'06 G35X.

That's the first I've heard of it! Do you know if the G37s have one?

G35 w/5AT:

Page TM-224 starts Periodic Maintenance and goes over cleaning, checking and replacing ATF
G35 does have a transmission dipstick

G37 w/7AT:

Page TM-258 concerning periodic maintenance. It should be similar for the 5AT transmission as well. Need Matic S fluid, not Matic J.

No, there is no transmission dipstick for a G37.
