Hey Guys,

It's me again...just purchased a 2008 G35-S last week and I'm back with another concern...this week i had the car tinted via Infiniti...the loaner was a 2007 G35 journey (basic features), but with the A/C on (just as how I set the one in mine), the car seemed to shift into higher gears much smoother...am I being too hypersensitive? It appears to me that even my engine runs rougher than the 2007...any opinions? I received the car with 140 miles on it. I plan to take the car in next Thursday for check-up, any input before then is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

SirLennox

The adaptive shift control matches inputs. I am not saying you drive the car hard but the car will adjust the shift point and application pressure applied when a gear change is commanded, based on throttle angle, wheel speed and a few other inputs. I am not sure whether the S has different preprogrammed algorithms to shift in a more sporty way. The dealer is able to reset your base parameters by clearing the self learning, this will bring many of the control functions back to their factory default.

I cannot say at this time with any certainty whether you have an issue or not that is just my educated guess. I cannot be quoted on it without driving the car.

Steve. VW's have the same adaptive learning in the trans, as well as throttle.

I think you are right on your interweb diag.

I know what your talking about and common sense would lead you to believe that the self learning for AT shift points would be in the trans, the news Gs however do not have this. The older models of many Infinitis did have an EEPROM learning reset feature in the work support section of the Consult menu.

Many of our loaners are subjected to spirited driving and the shift points are set to ~4,000 rpms under part throttle. Clearing self learning and resetting several of the base parameters return the engine and trans to default.

I don't know. I had an 07 before and now I have an 08. Both X but it is a same engine and transmission. My 07 was rougher then my 08 for sure. The ecu is different in the 08 then the 07. I do agree with the loaner being abused(well used in spirited driving).

My 07 felt faster nut sure if it was but deffinitely felt faster since day 1. Could be just the rougher shifting.

Did you buy it new with 140 miles on it?

Shoulda got a 6Speed

No but Another thing could be is that yours was abused in those 140 miles and could lead to damage that was longterm because of the break in period!

I doubt it, yes, 140 miles upon purchase, I was present when the car arrived from about 80 miles away...older gentleman drove it from Nashville.

oh then

I would have that reset and see if it helps.

Maybe you just need to drive it a little harder MR.

Even at idle it isn't as smooth running as my 1992 Nissan Maxima SE...the rpm needle on the G swings slightly at idle, am I expecting too much?
