I accidently slammed the shifter into park at apprx 30mph. I could feel the gears grinding and had to yank it back to drive. This happened a few weeks ago. Now I feel the transmission slipping (I think).

What kind of damage could I have done and would it be a delayed reaction?

Now what? Thanks!

You could easily have damaged the synchros/gears in the transmission. Is it just slipping with no grinding or knocking?

I would pull the transmission pan to see if there is any debris, also, check the transmission fluid to see if it is burnt looking/smelling.

It's not grinding or knocking and now it will not slip.

Thanks for the info at least I can ask a semi intelligent question when I take it to a transmission shop.

If it's not slipping now then that is a good thing. I'd still have the fluid flushed and checked. Good luck, hopefully there is no long-term issues.
