Hi, Coming from an sti i was wondering about fuel economy of a new g35 with intake, z tubes and 5/16 plenum. I have like 300 miles on car and show about 17-18 mpg all city.I am missing the power of the subie. Will this give me less mpg? How loud will it be. I feel my car has a bit of power but it's too civil. The subie was down right loud and stiff. I love the luxury and comfort but feel she needs a little balls. Please inform me on a modest set-up. Do i need to break in the engine?(1st ever new car) thx!

It's not that you're lacking power (08 STi has 305 HP, 08 G35 has 330 HP, but the STi has quite a bit more torque = balls in your case) it's just the beauty of Sub's AWD.

An intake without sound baffles alone will increase the sound significantly at WOT (ie a Z-tube), a spacer will increase it even more across a wider band. An intake won't give you worse mileage if you drive it the same way as you did before putting it on, but that is highly unlikely to happen.

You should allow the engine to break in, there was a recent thread about it (you'll find it either on page 1 or 2).

I believe he has the sedan Smockers so it's not 330hp. Should be 306hp. If that is the case go for dual intakes (Fujita,Stillen) Motordyne plenum spacer and an exhaust. This WILL give you noticeable increase in power. As for the MPG, I believe it will decrease as you will find yourself doing more "spirited" driving. We have a Modification Database at the top of the forum...look for the orange sticky. This will give you all kinds of ideas. If you drive an AT, I have heard nothing but good things from other Members here about the Grounding Wires kit.

For the Grounding Wires go here http://www.groundinggear.com/G...e.htm

for the other bolt on mods go to http://www.everythingg35.com and ask for Joe... tell him you are from NICO. He is VERY knowledgable and helpful!

Good luck!

306HP at idle, and 309 at 60 MPH. Or so the mags say due to the twin intake design. I'm getting 16.4 now with 1600 miles and about 75% intown. I've given up on mileage, and dropping 50 bucks every time I fill it up is getting a little old too. If I might offer a suggestion it would be to enjoy your G for what it is and leave it the way the factory designed it for at least 6 months. See if you don't end up loving her just the way she was made.

+1 to both above

If it were me, I'd wait til you have broken her in properly. Then you can see what the car has to offer and I'd modify the intake, the spacer and the grounding kit....as G-Whiz said it

break her in first though, thats my suggestion
