"Infiniti Releases Sketch of 2008 G Coupe [Jan. 10, 07]

NASHVILLE (Jan. 10, 2007) – Infiniti today released the sketch which previews the look of the all-new 2008 Infiniti G Coupe. Along with a new luxury crossover concept, the next-generation G Coupe will be unveiled at the 2007 New York International Auto Show in April.

This announcement follows a record setting sales trend led by the recent launch of the all-new Infiniti G Sedan, which sold 6,544 units in December, marking its best month ever at a 65.5 percent increase over the prior year. Overall sales of Infiniti vehicles were up 5.9 percent in December, marking the best December ever for the luxury brand.

“Since the Infiniti Coupe Concept was unveiled last year, there’s been a lot of speculation about the new G Coupe and what it will look like,” said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager of Infiniti. “We’re looking forward to the introduction of the G Coupe and the luxury crossover concept at this year’s New York International Auto Show. It’s still a few months away, but trust me, it’s worth the wait.”

The new luxury crossover concept is a preview of a new entry to Infiniti’s product line that will be available at Infiniti retailers by the end of 2007, fulfilling the commitment of three all-new Infiniti vehicles in 13 months beginning with the introduction of the all-new G Sedan last fall.

Main news is the three-hole front fascia. The rockers are more aggressive than on the concept already shown, but I think this is just artistic license.

The only thing that could sway me to trade-in my 05, would be more HP...Hopefully if they do give the G more power, it won't break the bank (45k+).

I guess we'll have to wait and see

Well I certainly dig this one over the coupe concept. The changes are subtle, but make a big difference. The concept looks great, but the front facsia bothered me to no end as it had a pointy nose (a la Camaro). The front end in this sketch has a much cleaner look to it. I noticed the side view camera are ditched in favor of the mirrors. We'll get to see all the wonderful details come April.
