But, it`s ok bec. this time they offered me a 2009 G37X loaner car. I rented a 2007 G35x way back then, when I sent the EX35 for that fuel pump recall. Here is my experience with those 3 cars.
Performance:
2008 EX35:
1) Refined engine, but not enough torque to make me smile and nod.
2) transmission is like a girl in D mode. FICKLE MINDED... That is why I prefer driving on M mode (The reason why shifter assembly fuc...up).
3) It has torque when floor it on the lower gears, but not enough to pin you back into the seat and wet yourself.
4) Interior is 10 years better than the G`s
2007 G35X :
1) Strong engine, but unrefined. Your head or neck hurts when you floor the gas pedal on lower gears. It tends to lose the torque at upper RPM band...
2) Exhaust note is a bit noisy. After having the EX35 , the exhaust of the G35 is loud and gives me headache.
3) transmission is only 5 gears, so is not that smooth at all.
2009 G37x:
1) Strong engine. The torque is strong and yet very refined. You`ll feel it presses you back to your seat when floor it.
2) 7 speed transmission takes time to get use to. The 1-4 gears seems to close to each other. If I use the manual mode during normal accelleration, I had to shift quick bec. 3k rpm comes in too soon. But if you race it from stop, the manual mode is a pure joy!
3) Exhaust note is like between EX35 and the G35 a bit of a rambling sound and yet not too hyper note. I love it!
The 2009 G37X seems like a winner in my book! It`s a combination of EX35X AND G35X . It`s powerful and yet refined in all aspect. I`m more relax to drive it for normal use, and capable of refined spirited driving ... I just can`t imagine getting this 3.7 Engine and 7 speed transmission on the EX35 (EX37 if coming). If the EX37 shows up in the US soil,
Infiniti has a WINNER car!
I just could not stand the cheap interior looks of the G`s ...
I`m kinda liking the new 2010 G37x , but I got a go signal from my wife that I can get a 135i when the EX35 is fully paid.
