Hello!
I believe contemporary electronics are quite robust, but mechanical failures (aka, gremlins) continue to thrive.
I'm thinking you may have an issue with the "clutch depressed switch" that tells the ECM it is good to go for engine start.
I've not had an opportunity to explore under the driver foot well but I'm thinking the switch should not be too hard to find. Maybe it has slipped out of adjustment? If you can source a schematic from our Forum, you may figure out how to jump the proper connections.
Although you may not be on a hill, it would be interesting to see if the car would "bump start" in third.
Good luck!
