Just purchased Altima Coupe 3.5 SE and the non Bose stereo just isn't doing it for me. I'm adding a Pioneer AVIC-D3, but know that I'm in need of new speakers, etc. I know absolutely zip about Car Audo, so any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from anyone? Thanks all.

Your not kidding. The term is "audio" not "Audo". Go to crutchfield.com and type in your vehicle and it will give you the exact dimensions of your speakers and then decide your price range and go read some reviews. Everyone has their own preferences. I like Alpine H/U with JL or Polk Speakers and Infinity/Kicker Subs. Its all up to you. Almost anything aftermarket will be an upgrade from OEM.

Noooooooo! Don't go to crutchfield for any reason other than research, you'll end up paying way way way too much for whatever you buy. I hope no one here has, but to each his own. Ebay is for sure the way to go. If you have any experience with ebay I would highly reccomend it, and Ill even reccomend a few ebay stores that can get you the best price and the best service too if you would like. Youll end up paying hundreds less than crutchfield on just about every product.

The avic-d3 is a fantastic start. You'll never regret that purchase, unless you have more money to burn on a kenwood, but the d3 is one of the best for sure. Among the best brands out there, alpine, mtx, rockford fosgate are where you wanna be, as long as you research the product a little. If you go rockford, make sure you get the power series, the punch series is just ok.

For the speakers, Theres pretty much unanimous approval here of the infiniti kappas. You'll need 6.5's in the front doors, and 6x9'x in the rear deck. these are very well priced if you stay away from big stores like crutchfield and circuit city, best buy etc. don't spend over $100 per pair.

Are you looking for a sub and amp? It all depends on your taste and budget. Infiniti is great for speakers, but stay away from their amps and subs. they have very low power handling and the output is usually much lower than what it says on the box. Alpine type r's are great all around subs. Get a 12" in a 1.3cu' ported box, you won't regret it. Also the rockford power series subs and amps are just about the best, along with jl audio, if you got tons of cash.

Hey, Thanks. Glad to know that I'm off to a good start with the AVIC-D3. I've used Crutchfield for researching different pieces, but know to go elsewhere for purchases.

What is your opinion with regards to Fosgate speakers? I was thinking about just replacing the rear and door speakers for now. I'm going to add a Amp in the near future, probably a Fosgate 4 channel, nothing really expensive. Thanks again for your previous response.

You've got your answer with regards to Fosgate speakers in the thread I linked you to Here's the quote...

In case you didn't know, rjdmmfl1 is the resident car audio guru here. If you're looking for good speakers are a decent price check out the Infiniti Kappa series which are the mid range infiniti speakers. Kappa Perfect are the higher end stuff, and the Reference are the lower end. The Perfects go for about 190 on ebay, the regular Kappa is in the lower to mid 100 range and the reference goes for under 100.

You really should read that thread I linked you to earlier because it does answer all your questions
