As I was driving home in the rain from the dealership after my new car purchase, I noticed a wet spot near Pillar A on the driver's side. I took it back to the dealer, and the service tech told me it was probably a blockage from the sunroof drain hose or soemthing of the sort. I go back today to pick it up and they tell me they also found something else that is busted and leaking water. I forget exactly what it was, but something about the "evaporation" something... not entirely sure, as I don't know much about cars. I will know the exact problem tomorrow. But they told me this has been happening on a good number of the new coupes they've sold. Is this true or are is this just dealer talk? And just how harmful/damaging are these problems?

I haven't encountered anything of the like. It could just be a spotty problem that only affected a small number of vehicles.

No surprise, I bought mine in November (it is 500 miles only) and already has a problem in the suspension, with any minor bump it sounds like crazy, even people is able to hear it, so mine is eye catching in the nasty way...

Thats odd since we are the highest selling dealer in the northwest region and all I have had to do to any of the new coupes is pre delivery inspections. Haven't had any come in with problems yet. Had a few first maintence services but thats about it.

Start hearing problems because, yesterday while washing my car it locked down and won't start. It has totally locked down. I had it towed to my home because it was Sunday and I'm having it towed to the dealership today.

What do I mean you may ask? It won't start, the doors won't lock, the windows won't open, the HOOD and TRUNK won't pop open. I suspect I triggered the alarm system and it shut down. It systematically did this, first the engine (with the lights still on), then the door locks, then eventually the lights.

While the lights were still on there was a light indicator on the dash of a car with a key in the middle. I looked in the manual and it said this indicates a malfunction and take it to the dealership immediately (under troubleshoot).

I am very concerned but optimistic that it is the wonderful alarm system. I will let everyone know when I return from the dealership today.

Has anyone had this problem with their Nissan?

The car with the key in it is your NATS security system. It has to do with a transponder located inside the ikey/remote. If you have it in the car and that indicator comes on solid it means it cant see the key. The fact that now your locks are not working either suggest the car completely lost the ID of that key/remote. Did you happen to get the ikey/remote wet when you were washing it? Or did the battery in the remote prematurly go dead? This really isnt suppose to apply to 08 but did you happen to take a call on a cell phone just prior to it happening?

If none of those circumstances apply, from a diagnostic stand point a consult will be used to extract codes and failures diagnosed from there. Be sure you tell them this happened right after a car wash. This way they will know they may be chasing a moisture short in one of the request switches on the doors.

Push button starting is THE dumbest thing i've ever seen.NATS without a key(i-keys).That engineer should be labotimized. There is a TSB about evaporator drains not draining, and houston is high in humidity.I would try the hose repair.

The dealer says the battery was totally dead. They don't know why and 2 of the cells are gone. They said Nissan would not let them replace the battery but only recharge it. Maybe it is the cold (20 degrees) the other day. The car was not in ACC and the lights were not on.

if the dealer tested the battery and now two cells are gone then my however working at a dealer would test the battery and if it failed a test on the nissan aproved battery tester and i got a failed test code then in fact nissan would replace the battery all they need is a failed battery test from it to get a claim on replaceing it, however i have found here that when you do not turn your car off and makeing sure all the dash lights are off and that the i-key botton displays off when you kill it i have seen the battery go dead on them. there is also a i-key recall on some of the 07 altimas where the key stops working for the car all togeather.

as for the leaks you all seem to have sunroofs maybe true the seals are leaking but maybe it is the frt glass seal leaking, a simple test with a dry car is to, shut all your windows turn your car on freesh air full blower and get some baby powder and put it along all the seals where it is suspect to be leaking with all the doors shut tight and with the cabin of the car presureized by the blower see if the powder blows away from the area aplied, it works or just feel for air blowing out of the car in the areas you may have slight air flow from the door seals allthough you can tell where is would be leaking if it where to be leaking, your fellow nissan tech

if the dealer will or can not find a problem(s) then call nissan directley and open a case on them. then the dealer will have to find something to get it fixed right for you but sometimes a dealer must find a problem in order to fix it, they (nissan) like us to fix it right the first time parts are thrown at it and then sometimes they call for the parts back and then nissan looks to see if there was a problem or if the dealer is just scaming the system and if so the dealer will have a denied claim and have to pay out of there pocket witch it is kinda hard sometimes to do it right being in the middle of nissan and the custamer sometimes being a dealer is nice like that but a dealer must be looking to as well make the custamer top priority in it as well, I am sure that if not at your local dealer then maybe one a little further down the road would be a good choice to make take it somewehre esle, nissans are good cars not just becouse i work on them but i see the quality and not often i have seen many mass problems with them all. In my oppion take it somewehre else maybe to get it looked at another dealer
