I just purchased this car and cannot figure out how to get the remote start to work with the lock/unlock/tailgate/alarm key device.
There seems to be a specific way, but I cannot make it happen every time I try...I thought it was to push the lock key twice, or to hold it for a certain amount of time.
This is annoying for sure! Plus the few times I have got it to work, the car starts, and when I get in it, it shuts off. Then I have to start it to re-cycle it again.
UGH! Please help!
When I picked up the car, the salesmen says 'Oh did you know it has a remote start" and I said no, as I was planning on having one installed, esp seeing as the car has everything else I want.
BUT - he didn't know how to use it either. Why I say this is because it seems like it came with the car, when it was manufactured, but I looked for material online to explain the way it works and have not got anywhere.
If you can help, or have the magic answer for this, that would be SWEEEET!

try unlock-lock-unlock or vice versa

failing that. take it to a place that installs them. they will be able to either tell you what it is or re-program it

So I trieed that and that works, BUT, the car remains locked; when I open the door, it shuts itself off :( Any idea here?

Im pretty sure that no 2008s came with it stock, it has got to be aftermarket, and it sounds like a bad install.

I know Canada's trims/options are a little different compared to US but Remote Start is definitely aftermarket, it's not even available as an option.

Was this purchased from a Nissan dealership, if so I can't believe your salesman doesn't know. Find out who installed it.

I think it's Lock-Unlock-Lock for remote start. The idea is that the doors remain locked while the engine is running so that no one can get in and drive away.
If it was installed correctly, then all you have to do is unlock the car when you want to drive, get in, depress brake pedal, and shift to D and drive away without the engine shutting down and having to restart it.
If it was installed incorrectly, then whenever you depress brake pedal it will shut down and you have to push the start button to restart.
