Anyone heard about a back ordered part problem on the '08 Altima's check engine warning light that won't go out? 25 days and counting in Ohio...

A back ordered part problem? Um.. yeah.. the part problem?

Lemonlaw guy... you should know better lol...

"yeah hes claiming his car is a lemon because the check engine light is on and a 'part' is loose"

If you want answers, you need to give enough details to get them

u know I just wanted to find an answer to a question from what I thought might be a bunch of people who were more in the know than others. sure didn't mean to offend or upset your day. and no one is claiming their car is a lemon here, just looking for helpful info; guess that was a mistake in this forum

rburdge Welcome!

Don't mind the guy above, he probably got something extra special in his cheerios this morning.

As for your CEL problem. What exactly has occured? How many miles? And what part are they replacing? This would be the first time any of us have heard of this.

Nissan has in fact always had issues with back ordered parts, but mostly on newer vehicles or those that are experiencing heavy recall problems.

i wasnt saying you were claiming your car was a lemon... merley touching ont he topic... Rburdge you know how specific the laws are regarding lemons... Its simmilar with "check engine" codes... you need to provide more details, this is the place to find the answer though...

Its as if someone said "Rburdge, theres this piece thats been broken on my car 3 times, is it a lemon?"

Its like the Oracle and Neo... the answers are here, but whats important is asking the right question!

The part involved is the "intake time control" whatever that is. 417 miles on vehicle. Dlr said car can be driven and it's been almost 30 days so far. Is this common?

hey, i've had a similar problem with my 08 coupe. apparently it's the body control module. the dealer ordered the part but since it's an 08, he said the part could take up to a month to come in:/ oh, and i have less than 700 miles on it. the engine seems to be fine though. can anyone tell me exactly what a bc module does? i know it has something to do with the electrical components in the car... right? lol.

Dlr says the back ordered part is a body control module and it has to do with radio, window controls, door locks, and interior light electrical system. If it was just one, I might not be concerned; but all of those? Makes me wonder...especially when they say I'm not the only one on back order.

hmm... interesting. so you're problem is also the BC MODULE? i wonder if this has been a recurring issue for altima coupes? also, does a faulty bc module hinder the engine in anyway?

There is a seperate control module for the engine and for the "body" and another seperate module for the trans, abs, vdc, etc. it is VERY VERY unlikely that a bad BCM will effect the engine (it could cause a no-start though, the BCM controlls the immobilizer or "security system") but the dealer is replacing the BCM to correct a Check Engine Light? that is kindof weird to me, do you happen to have the code number handy?
