Brand new here. I searched around on the forums a bit, but couldn't find anything that addressed this.

I've had my 2.5s for a little over a year now and have been very happy with it. I made the mistake of buying my wife a new 2009 Town & Country with the dual DVD player (we have 3 kids - two age 3 and one age 5)/GPS/SAT radio/bluetooth monstrosity of a radio that Chrysler has out now (even has a 30gig hard drive and rips CDs to the hard drive for you). I now have stereo envy.

I was over at Crutchfield.com looking for options to sooth my malady. I picked the "outfit my car" option and entered all my specifics. (I currently have the base single-CD AM/FM stereo.) As I drooled over the beautiful 7" screens on the DVD/GPS systems, I noticed a small link on the page that said, "important requirements." Hmm...better check that out.

I click on it, and get a small popup window that says:

Important Requirements:

* You'll lose the factory warning chime if you replace the factory radio. We don't recommend replacing the factory radio.

Well, that's one heck of a bummer. Can anyone confirm this is true? At this point I'd be happy just to get a radio that would handle my bluetooth cell phone (LG AX300) and maybe get me some satellite radio. I am on the phone quite a bit in the car, and I am not confortable using the phone while driving unless I'm using a hands-free speaker phone. Is there a Nissan model radio I can put in that will give me bluetooth functionality? I currently have a bluetooth speakerphone for the visor, but I'm interested in something integrated where I don't have to worry about charging it up (GPS would be fun, but I'll settle for the phone at this point).

Thanks,

Gary

What's the warning chime for? The only warning chime I can think of is the one that goes off if you forget to turn off your headlights, and that stays after you replace the factory stereo..

The only chimes I can think of that I get are:

1. Headlights on2. When it thinks the key is still inside the car.3. Seatbelt if I don't buckle it after a while.4. I've heard a soft beep whenever one of the dashboard lights comes on for things like distance to empty or oil change is up.

I was hoping someone here that has swapped out a stereo in an '08 might know for sure what, if anything, went away. I might call Crutchfield and ask them if they have any more details now that I think about it.

Thanks,

Gary

I've swapped my stereo out already, and the headlight chime is still there, but I've never driven around long enough without a seatbelt buckled to see if there's a chime. I don't recall a chime being there though for the seatbelt regardless. Confirmation anyone?

I doubled checked - no chime for the seatbelt. I was thinking of my wife's van that has this annoying chime that gets louder and more frequent the longer you drive without a seatbelt.
