i was at the dealer and i noticed that the 2007 G35 sedan automatic's get 26mpg and the 2008 get 24mpg. Both of these are on the highway. They had one 6speed sedan that had 27mpg on Highway but that was a 2007 and all the 6speed coupes that are 2008 get 24mpg also. What is the casue of this decrease! DJ

WEIGHT

The G37 is a pig compared to a 07 G35 coupe.

A 2007 G35 sedan should be able to keep up with if not beat a G37 Coupe. Hopefully I'll find a G37 that wants to race at Speedworld November 11th and I'll have video to back up my guess.

No i am talking about the difference from the 2007 sedan to the 2008 sedan. they are both at the dealership but the mpg is different. 24mpg for the 08 and 26 for the 07. Why is change in the MPG on the new ones.

? I don't know sorry I mis-understood your post. I thought the 08 sedan was going to be the same as the 07? What size wheels does the 08 come with? a change from 17's to 19's could eat 2 mpg.

Weight is 1 thing that will make the mpg go up or down

They were all non X models and they were almost the same car... some of them were the sport and some of them were the journey. But all had ither 17 or 18 in. wheeles! The only difference was the year and the MPG. The 2008's got 24 mpg highway and the 2007 go 26 mpg highway. I didn't see a 2008 6MT to see what it said for MPG Highway, but the 2007 6MT got 27MPG highway... The best out of the Group.

My question is why is there a 2 mpg highway change?

I wasn't clear with my original post sorry on my end

It's just a change in the way EPA calculates the numbers. You can get the "revised" numbers for pre-2008 models on the http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ site.

This is the case with ALL the models 2007 vs 2008.

The reason is EPA testing as someone mentioned above. As of 2008 the EPA testing is done differently than before to better simulate real life driving.... hence the more realistic lower MPG!

The new improved tests for 2008 still assume an average speed of 48 mph and the AC is only on 3.6 miles out of 40 and 60 mph is the highway peak speed except for a very short passing test to 80.

This test still over estimates the typical under 40 frisky driver so expect another 10-15% lower mpg.
