2007 Sentra 2.0S - shift knob...help!

OK so this sounds stupid, but I cannot get my shift knob back on. I took apart that center area to get rid of a raddle and the thing wont go back on. When i slide it back on, it doesnt seem to click into place and it just slides right off. How do i get this back on???

Any help is appreciated.

I figured out my problem, the spring thing broke inside the shifter.
