Last night my wife was driving our 2007 Quest S and the throttle became unresponsive while in gear. When the van is in Park or neutral it it revs as expected. Also for a while it seemed to shift gears awkwardly especially when the A/C was on. It appears to go into gear but when the gas pedal is pressed the engine fails to rev but when it is taken out of gear the engine revs to about 1000 - 1500 RPM depending on how much the accelerator was pressed while in gear. I do not currently have the money to have it towed to a garage/dealer for repair and I am looking for some information to help me diagnose the problem. I did find some posts that seemed to be related like this onepost5227609.html?hilit=TCM#p5227609 which links to a FSM however that link is dead. Any one have ideas on what what sensors to check and procedures for checking them to determine what part is faulty? I do not want to take the spray an pray approach(as in replace parts until it works). I do have a multi-meter and some basic tools.

Not sure if it is related but two days ago the "Battery" and "Brake" light came on. The parking brake is definitely not set and the battery is less than 6 months old.

To anyone who might have been doing research to help me solve this problem thank you but I found the problem on my own. In another conversation with my wife she mentioned that there was a squeaking belt and that she had "gunned the engine" to silence it and then she smelled burnt rubber and that is when the car would not accelerate. So I looked at the belt and sure enough it was gone. The engine was also a quart low on oil, I had checked last night and it seemed fine but the engine was still hot. Not sure which was the more important factor but if you are experiencing the same thing then look for both of those things. I also found the FSM here http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Quest/2007_Quest/ if you are looking for it the one labeled fwd has the index of the different systems. I hope that you might find this post useful. :)
