Hello im new here but really need your help. I am aware of the 1/4 tank full of gas issue cuz my van has that problem so i always keep enough gas in. I was worried last night i didnt have enough stopped got 3 gallons of regular octane gas(first mistake) my van will only run on premium gas stations regular octane gas if i go to a generic or off brand gas station and dont get a high octane thete i have these problems. So anyway i got 3 gallons from the gas station last night cuz i fill up my van early friday morning after i get direct deposit on fridays.so i did my routine dropped off wife and kids got a couple miles from my destination turned the corner and boom it starts. Van was running great it starts chugging im praying it dont die cuz no mothing for a mile where this started by the grace of God it makes it to the gas station i put in premium 93 octane gas and STP fuel injector cleaner i start the van up it sounds a bit better i drive 100 feet its starting to get better i pull back out on the street make it 500 feet and dead! It cranks but then dies out right away. I let it sit starts up for a couple seconds sounds better than dies out. When i step on pedal trying to keep it runningnit sounds muffled than dies ive ran out of gas before in the van because of the whole 1/4 tank of gas thing the way it reads you have gas but dont but this is the worst its ever acted please help me have 4 kids i need to pick up and wife. It does not throw any codes which tells me it has to be gas cpuld the front 02 sensor be causing this what are some ways i can elp to get my van running and home.
Thanks in advance
Chris

I wonder if you've got some some bad gas in the tank that's clogging up your filter or has water in it somehow. If you don't step on the gas, but let it idle normally, does it work any better?

If it were me, I'd probably start by disconnecting the hose to the fuel filter, and squirting some fuel out of the system (preferably into a catcher of some sort) by turning the ignition on for a few seconds, then hook everything back up and see if it helps. That might help get rid of any water in the lines.

The octane rating shouldn't matter much. If you're noticing a pattern that your van runs weird on a station's regular octane, I would probably ditch that station for fear of bad gas quality overall. High octane is usually only needed for high performance engines (Corvettes, some turbocharged motors, some Mustangs, etc) and don't make any difference in a regular vehicle provided it's reasonable quality gas.
