My son has a 2007 pathfinder S 4x4 with 116000 miles. Had to replace the transmission and torque converter due to the water in the atf issue. Replaced the valve body with a new Nissan replacement- new solenoids, valves electronics etc. Engine is very good . Bumper cover is fair with lots of paint chips. Rest of body is good. Everything works except for the TPMS. Drives great.
Can anyone give me an idea of a reasonable asking price for the PF? My son paid $7500 for it plus $1000 for drive train repairs two weeks before the transmission self destructed.
Thanks for your input.

Well, the KBB (Kelley Blue Book) value to sell to a private party is around $5500.

Dealer trade-in value is around $3800.

Does the freshly rebuilt transmission with a warranty until 01/2018 add any value to the KBB estimate?

Here is what you'd have to balance. See, most buyers care about current value. Like they won't pay $4000 for a $2k Nissan Maxima just because I spent $2k on a new engine and trans. They can just find another one "rightly" priced, ya know, till they have to spend $2k in 8 months.
- Exagggerated example.

However, I would think it adds a little value to the vehicle combined with the peace of mind of a warranty. If this is something that inevitably happens to all of them, then you're saving the new owner a future expense if he/she really wants a Pathy. Hopefully that repair doesn't scare them of another issue in another 100k miles. Just reassure them that the radiator replacement ensures it won't happen again.

I think this is one of those situations that warrants asking a little above what others are asking if theirs haven't had the repairs yet. Check your local craigslist and compare.
... oh, and go to a Carmax location for an estimate if there's one closeby. I've heard that they make decent offers as far as dealerships go.

The most the fix would add is 50%. And thats going to be for an item that would fail in the next ownership. Cars with known defects get knocked the cost of the fix. Only a prefect low mile garage queen will sell for full value with the fix not preformed. What did he do (for 1k) just after purchase? What was it not fixed ASAP?

The car was basically worthless after the transmission failed -- you had to fit it to get it back to parity. Anyone buying the car will have to value the car based on it's condition and the quality of the warranty -- where was it done .. who is giving the warranty?

Why not fix the TPMS -- I would factor the worst case if I was looking at it

If you did not added a separate external radiator that is NOT connected to the water radiator, you are still running the risk of having another damaged transmission. Fixes dont add value at a sale , because the KBB price is for cars that are in a certain condition. As an example , KBB will only give prices for fair condition up. When you go to their definitions, a car that need a transmission repair fall under the "poor" category and they said clearly that they dont give estimates for cars on that category. You can get the car to the max excellent condition price if it have low miles and you have put everything else new to get to that condition price. Otherwise it would be from good condition to fair, depending what else it have or not. Also if this is a known issue( it is), then your car devaluates faster as no one wants a car that they have the possibility of having to fix after paying the max KBB price.
