Yeah you read that right 100K miles. In only 20 months. Names Scott and I use my car for work and I drive a lot. So how has it fared for 100K miles. Well first off the only thing I had replaced under warranty was the steering wheel and shifter, as the oil from my hands apparently rubbed the silver paint black. As for maintenance, I have changed the oil about every 8-10k miles(synthetic), changed the transmission fluid twice(second one switched to synthetic), replaced the front pads at 96K miles. Changed the air filter 6 5 times. Whats next you ask? Spark plugs, and rear shoes that are squeaking. Guess it was the drums that needed to be changed and not the front. Infarct at 96K miles the front pads easily had another 30K left on them.

I did the spark plugs yesterday. Wasnt to bad took about an hour. Its fairly strait forward. All you need is a 8mm, 10 mm socket, 6 inch extension, and try and find a 14mm spark plug socket. If not you need a 14mm spocket and long needle nose pliers to get the plugs out. Also the plus are denso iridiums from the factory so makre sure thats what you put in it. Also there is a bolt for the intake manifold behind the throttle body so that has to be removed as well.

Were you able to replace the spark plug without removing the intake manifold as the Service Manual suggests? How did the original iridium plugs look after 96K miles?

wow! I am at 85 000 kms and I had the car for 18 months! Nice job!

I have had to replace way tooooooooo many items to list but finally the car is running good! I had the brakes checked last week and they said they have alot of life left!

You said you had you steering wheel replaced....... was it because it the rubber was wearing out? Mine is doing it also........ I will look into the waranty.

Again........CONGRATS!!http://www.thedrivingschool.ca/

Yes you have to take the intake manifold off. There is no way to get to the other 2 spark plugs. As for the steering wheel, not only was the rubber wearing down but the silver paint on the trim had worn off from the oil on my hands.

Now I don't have to be EV's Guinea Pig any more! Unless he's wanting to check out the CVT, and it sounds like you've got the 6-speed. I've been sticking with the factory-suggested maintenance schedule and have been quite happy with mine. I can wait a bit longer to get to 100k!

i see you live in texas, do you work on a drilling or production rig? because i work on production rig out here in cali.... and i have to say that if your hands are that oily then tell your company to order some better hand cleaner.... sucks that they dont make champion hand cleaner anymore....

I figured the only way you'd rub the paint off the shifter would have been if you had the manual. So if they replaced it and the steering wheel under warranty (in the first 36k miles), hasn't the problem recurred in the next 64k?

No I dont work on an oil rig, and no I am not a greasy italian. The steering wheel and shifter were replaced under my extended warranty. I am not really sure what caused the removal of the silver paint. All I know is the way i hold the sterring wheel when I drive there was a black spot where there used to be silver and as for the shifter doing the same thing, well I am in and out of my car all day and the shifter is contantly being used.

the phrase "wear and tear" comes to mind..

So are you going to send pics of your odometer to prove your mileage?

And kc5f - you still get to be the guinea pig, Mr. CVT.

That maybe true but nissan should use something that dosent fade so easly. My jeep has 220K miles on it and the interior looks new still

That's a lot of driving. 5000 miles per month on average. That's also a lot of time to spend sitting in a car.
