Battery clamp
I have a new battery to put in. I have taken off the positive and negative clamps, but the battery will not budge. Is there a clamp or something I have to take off? where is it and how do u take it off?

Welcome to NiCO!

The Versa was Nissan's first attempt into the "disposable" automobile market. If your battery is dead, you'll need to throw that Versa away and get a new one.

Seriously, there should be some sort of a battery clamp -- probably a flat metal bar that goes across the top of the battery and is secured by two long threaded rods which attach somehow to the battery tray (the flat piece of plastic under the battery. I don't own a Versa, so I'm not quite sure how it looks, but it should be there.

there is nothing around the top or sides, feels like it is being held from the bottom

There is probably a sliding clamp on the bottom. Should just be one bolt that you take out that loosens the clamp up. I'll see what I can dig up...

I would like to know where the battery clamp is located, is the bolt holding it down under the battery? do I have to get it on a left and undo it from under neath? where is it located, even generally so that I can look for it please

Well, according to "eHow":
Lift the retaining strap off the top of the battery. Pull the battery's bottom tab to lift the strap up, then move the strap out of the way. Remove the battery.

I don't know if there's more to it or not. I'll keep looking.

EDIT: Oh, and the clamp on the bottom would be on the side of the battery facing the engine bay. You don't need to get under the car or anything.

I see there is something on the back edge / bottom of the of the battery, - is that it? and then do I pull it up and out? or does it have to slide one way first and then left out?

there are not any restraining straps on the top or sides. The battery is stuck solid. when I shake it, the entire car moves.

about the clamp that is facing the engine bay: is there just the one (1) bolt/clamp? and then does it slide and left out or just left out? thanks

Do you have, or can you get, a better picture than this?

If you can give me a top down picture of just the battery, I may be able to provide more help. I have not personally done any work on a Versa, so I don't know how that particular battery restraint works.
