Hello All,

Long time Honda owner, first time Nissan owner. Picked up this project 2007 Nissan Quest SL in terrible shape. Sunroof pouring directly into the passenger foot well. Carpet looks like it was second hand from a shuttered Chuck-E-Cheese. The engine is leaking a bit of oil. But...

I love it! Can't imagine this poor van going to the scrap heap. The engine still screams at the higher rpms, the DVD player sounds like a gosh darn movie theater through the Bose system, the body is completely rust free,

So, I'm hoping after a few years, and thousands of dollars, I'll have a minty fresh Quest, worth far less than the money I've dumped into it. But I shall be happy.

Welcome aboard!

Nothing wrong with that plan at all - They were actually one of Nissan's better cars, with a tried-and-true platform and a great engine.

Definitely worth saving. Let us know if we can be of assistance!

Got the rear portion of the disgusting carpet out, bonded the sunroof shut (I never use these anyways),

Things to do:
Water leak fix(es)
Motor Mounts
Wheel bearing (not sure which one(s))
Oil leak identify
Oil leak fix
Transmission fluid & filter change
Oil change

Nice to have
New seats
New carpet
New tires
New exhaust (dented)

Disgusting, replace it, or leave it empty?

WOW! I like to know the progress since then. I have a 2008, that I bought in 2013. I've been taking care of it since. I've had issues with the sun-roof. It took lots of internet research and just opening the headliner. Usually, the drainage system, which consists of a drain nipple and plastic tubes, become clogged. You get leaks because the water has no place to drain and the trough overflows.

I know you plugged it up. I wanted other to know what causes the leaks and how to fix it. Anyways, I cleaned the debris in the trough below the glass sunroof. Once you clean debris, do the following:
1) remove the both sun visors.
2) Remove both handrails.
3) Remove that plastic piece that hides the rubber tube which is part of the drainage system. They are on both sides.
4) Once all done, slowly peel, the headliner. You'll see that rubber tube. It becomes clogged with debris such as dust, dirt, and even leaves.
5) Clear out the debris and reassemble in reverse. Done!

Those are the cabin air-filters. Yes, you'll need to replace them. Grab some online or your local big box store. Your best bet is online. These filter the air that is blown inside and filters the crud from reaching the blower motor fan. You wouldn't want to breathe in the dust and dirt from the outside.
