So my original wiper has crapped out after this winter.

How exactly do I take it off?

I did mine last week. I though $20+ for a wiper change at a dealership was absurd so i bout the correct length blade refills from the local parts store. Remove the rubber blade part of the wiper from the frame (it just slides out. The simply slide in the refill by feeding it through the frame. Took less then 5 min, no tools and a 2-pack of refills was $6.

Depending on how much the `+' above $20 was, this is actually a pretty good price. I paid just under $18 for the blade itself (not just the refill part) from a dealer one year ago. Removing the wiper assembly from the car, replacing the blade, and replacing the assembly is about a 10 minute job.

$20+ means the dealer is charging almost no labor to put the new ($18) blade on.

I will admit that i did not look into the price of the blade, but i still think $18 is alot for a wiper. I know we're not talking about saving hundreds on a major repair, but $15 in my pocket is better than nothing.
