The 2007 disk was issued in November, 2006.

This is the link to the company and so you can order the new disk:

Plan in shelling out $190 bucks for it also.

My disk some how cracked in two, i think someone sat on it. is the zenrin disk a replacement or an upgrade that still requires the original disk that came with the car?

I have a backup that I made of my 7.0 disk (haven't tried the 7.1 yet). If you have a PC and a dual-layer DVD burner, you can make backups of these very easily. I'm not sure of the legality but I would help you out here if I could. Post your email address and I will get in touch with you to see if I can help.

kfk256:

What was your disk doing outside the navagation DVD player? There would be no reason to do that, because the navagation disk player can't play music or movies like the one in the center console.

The Zenrin disk is a new version. It depends on when you got your 2007 if it would be a replacement disk or the new version. You do not need the old disk to use the new disk.

There is a chance that if you copy the DVD, you can't make a usable disk. It might have copy protection on the disk - something I would do. I have no doubt if you could make a copy, giving it to someone else would be a violation of the copyright license to use the disk. You own the rights to use the disk, but you don't have the right to copy it for someone else or even sell it. (The same rights that exist for any music or movie you buy).

The new disk version is 7.2

My wife's nephew got to it somehow and swears it was broken already (kind of tale you expect from a 12yr old). As mad as i got, i still have to replace it. I got the car in Jan 07 though it was manufactured in 08/06.

Sounds like you would have no warranty claim.

Easiest thing would be to go to the Zenrin site and order the 2007 V7.2 disk.

I did copy it for my own backup purposes (my line of work - habit) and it works fine. The disk is not copy protected - it's just a plain old data DVD using about 8.3gb. A dual-layer 8.5gb DVD-R will hold it all and any good DVD/CD copying program (Nero, EasyCD) can do the work.

Word to the wise - buy yourself the software and a DL DVD burner. It'll cost less than buying just one disk if you break it. Then also make backups of your DVDs (using other programs) for use in the car. Original DVDs have no business being in the harsh auto environment.

Harsh auto environment??

This is a DVD, in a DVD player, in a glove compartment, in an Infiniti M. A DVD that is not normally touched except when you put it in once and then put in a new one every year.

I can hardly wait to hear what you call something sitting on the dash, in an open Jeep, racing the Baja, Mexico peninsula.

I was referring more to the other DVD player in the center console (for those that have it) than to the Nav - sorry to be confusing. DVD's have 9x the data in the same form factor of a CD. Doesn't take much (as we all know) to render one into an expensive coaster.

In other news, looks like my attempts to copy the Nav disk have been unsuccessful. It loads up and works for a little while, when the Nav system reboots. It would appear they have indeed put some kind of copy protection onto it. I saw some unrecoverable errors when I ran the backup and this is a common way to copy protect discs. I will need some more time to investigate but I'm not done yet. I may have to step it up a notch from the commercial programs like Nero and Easy CD. Let's see what CloneCD can do with it...
