Morning Everyone,

I leased a new 07 M45 Sport in November of last year. Been enjoying it for about 10 months now. However, Friday before last, I went to start it and nothing happened. And when I say nothing happened, I don't mean the battery was dead, or the key didn't work, I mean nothing happened.... I was just getting out after running an errand, downtown Cincinnati, and didn't know what to do. Busted out the manual, figured the only possible thing would be the steering wheel lock, so tried to move the steering wheel around until it would start. Finally it started (thought this may have been the problem) but then when I got home, it wouldn't start again... Called infiniti roadside assistance to come get the car... about 20min after I called them, the car started! Drove the car to my local infiniti dealer, explained the problem to them, and again, the car wouldn't start. Stuck in the middle of their service bay. It has been a week now without my car. They didn't know what the problem was, infiniti told them to replace some sensor in the steering column, that didn't fix it, so they are waiting today for a new fix from infiniti. The service manager said they were expecting to run into some problems with the new key system... I guess I was the first. So I am continuing to wait... driving around a 05 FX35.... If they don't have a fix this week, I will begin to escalate and see about getting an infiniti buy back. I am not paying 1k a month to drive around a loaner car.... Will keep everyone updated.

Given production levels I would doubt a "systematic" fault in their key system. Likely idiosyncratic to your car and or experiences over the 10 months.

However, must admit I unloaded an audi way back in 1990 that had an electrical problem that the dealer and factory could never resolve. Just would guit on its own and with my wife driving it around LA in some questionable neighberhoods that was a deal breaker.

Had a Jag that did a similar thing. Found on a forum that you could always solve that random quiting by unhooking battery cables and rehooking. That caused a system reset and all was well. Happened only once in 9 years and still have car. Suggested by knowledgable jag group that it was heat related. Happened after a cross country summer drive at sustained high speeds and high outside temp. Who knows.

Good luck and fingers crossed it's just a quirky individual thing.

Very unusual, and hopefully, rare, symptoms. Please let us know what the final resolution is ...

Got a call from my service advisor last night, they replaced something called an IT sensor?? and still no luck. They still have no idea what the problem is, and they are calling infiniti this morning to ask them what is next. I asked my service advisor if he knew what infiniti's buyback policy was, considering that they may not be able to fix it in any short order. He said he would check and get back to me. If any of you guys know, I would appreciate the info. I really don't intend on paying what I am paying for my lease for a loaner car.

Sorry for your troubles. I hope your loaner is at least the Gen. 2 G35. God, is there a difference. While it seems exceedingly rare, your issue must be beyond frustrating. I hope for a quick resolution. Hopefully a 2008 M45 Sport. On the whole, our cars enjoy a envious reputation for reliability. I know this matters not when your car exhibits such gremlins.Good Luck,M.L

To be honest, I don't think I want a 08 M45 at this point. The lemon law says that the consumer can choose to accept a replacement vehicle or the full purchase price refunded. I think I will accept the former and just get a different car. I just test drove a 05 Cayenne Turbo today, so thats on the list as well as a 05 E55. Will keep everyone updated.

Just went and picked up my car... Turns out the NAV-Hack that I did was the problem. The ground apparantely was shorting out the body control module. The pulled the switch out and everything is working fine. My words of advice, if you are going to do the NAV-Hack, find a good ground, and take it out if you are having serious problems with your car before you take it in for service. Total bill was $1820.

Sorry you had to endure a 1800+ bill but happy it was not a desing flaw others might encounter. Well, it saved the premium you would have paid for an E55. Cheers.
