First off great Forum, secondly i have been trolling around for some time, just never really had a reason to post anything. i recently bought a 2007 M45 and i must say i absolutely love the thing. ( well everything except no bluetooth audio, which I'm going to fix) any who, as i was driving it home i noticed a HUUGE delay in the navigation, which led me to believe that the nav system has been jumped out to watch dvd movies and make nav adjustments on the go. I then pull up the nav page and continue to make a route with the vehicle in motion (step towards bypass discovery) but as i try and put a dvd in the player it says video will resume when vehicle has stopped. come to a stop and it says the same thing, put the car in park and the brake on... same thing. so after some research i found the diagnostics page, and i went to the vehicle switch page and the parking brake will not go to the "ON" position even when it is applied. the light on the dash comes on though. i want to eventually install a switch to have a nag hack, not this fully on slow nav crap.

Sounds like the previous owner(s) may have already done the nav hack and there's a short or loose wire OR
else there's a problem with your e-brake.
You may have to look behind your Nav DVD player and see if the wires are spliced into or if the bought a unit that plugs in back there.

well after tearing into my glovebox i found the culprit... he had a switch wired in and then apparently removed just the switch and left the wires cut all together. I'm going to buy a switch and just wire it in the way it should be. I twisted the wires together and the nav unit was really fast too.

Glad you figured out the problem.

I wonder where the PO ran the switch to?...lot of members have it at the cigarette lighter, next to the shifter in the middle panel.
I ran mine to the center console armrest area.

i was wondering the same thing, so i looked everywhere and i don't see any signs of a switch. i bought a flat rocker and I'm going to put it in the tray next to the seat warmers.

so i just finished the nav hack install, bt now that everything is fully operational, i have a TPMS light and the front right tire is not registering. WTH I connected a switch into two wires that were already cut. WTF

if its not one thing its another.... so i took the car to discount tire and they said that all the TPMS sensors are picking up, so he plugged a computer into the OBDII sensor and it will not read the vin # from the port. since it can't read the VIN, it can't connect. I have to smog the car as well, and without the ECU vin the smog is impossible. ugh...

I would go to advance or autozone and have them use their OBD Scanner and see if you get the same issue.

I went to Harbor Freight and bought a OBDII reader, and it showed no faults and even recognized the VIN. HMMM..... does anyone have any wiring schematics? i searched all over here and the web with no luck. Its only the front right tire sensor that is malfunctioning, so it can't be a blown fuse. I wonder if each tire has a wire for it and the one wire is shorted to ground. Anyone know if the TPMS runs through the nav unit for any reason? maybe when i was in that wire bundle for the nav hack I knocked a wire loose or something.

Does your OBDII reader have the TPMS protocol? If not you need a TPMS tool to know what the problem is with your TPMS. The sensor id probably needs to be re-registered.

Another possibility is that the sensor is getting bad due to weak battery with poor signals. If you still have the original sensors, the chances are that they are on their last leg being 6-7 years old.

ok so i found all the wiring schematics, and ripped my entire dash out, as well as both fenders. i swapped the toms receivers that were in the fenders, and the discrepancy DIDNT swap sides. ( the receivers are obviously not bad) I shot all the wires to ground with no shorts to ground. I then shot all the other wires to power and had no voltage drop. in the manual it says approx 12v and i only got 10, but measuring and comparing to the drivers known good side I got 10v as well. so with that being said I'm willing to bet that it is the sensor, even though discount says it is picking up readings. Also discount got a C1725 error code (even though it wouldn't detect my VIN) which is low voltage from the sensor IAW the service manual.

I'd suggest you replace all the sensors.

took it back to discount tire and they once again read the sensors and said that it can't be the sensor and that i would be wasting my money. I was about 99% sure it had to be the sensor, so i had them change it anyway. BAM!!! worked like a champ...
