I'm having a problem starting the car without putting it in the key slot. I changed the battery on the car and I put a new cr2025.battery in the remote. It won't turn over unless I put the remote in and when I run the car for a bit I can start it sometimes without plugging it in but sometimes. I'm thinking maybe spark plugs? I have 60,000 miles on it

I don't think plugs would affect the keyless start, I could be wrong...

More than likely I would guess it's something with the smart key/remote itself. Either that or the ignition system antenna. VERY rarely when I'm driving it will tell me "Key not found" and as soon as I take it out of my pocket, it goes away. See if you have a good cheap locksmith local, that does smart key programming.

Does the key work for everything else (opening doors, trunk, etc.)? I replaced my battery one time and the new battery was bad and I had a similar problem. I swapped another new one and it worked. Also, some new batteries have a clear piece of plastic protecting the battery that needs to be peeled off before installing it.

Another note - my manual says that the CR2032 is the right battery for our 2007 M35x.

Have you tried a CR2032 battery? That is the correct one for your key fob.

Let me throw this out for thought. Your vehicle hit the showroom floor in the fall of 2006. It's now the fall of 2015. Your car is 9 years old. In that time frame, you've replaced the battery in the key fob, the car battery, and even the tires. Did it not occur to you that perhaps the key fob is worn out?

1) As others have suggested, start by using the correct battery.
2) Your local Nissan/Infiniti can check the key fob to make sure it's transmitting.

I tried the 2032 same thing and even inside remote it says 2025 battery .I'll reprogram the remote next I guess just have to find a locksmith who would do it since I think the dealer will be asking a expensive price

Here's the thing. The key opening all the doors, trunk, etc. has nothing to do with the ignition. You yourself can program the smart key to the car for window and door functions. There's a tiny chip inside that is responsible for starting the car. An Infiniti tech once warned me that they can easily fall out or be damaged when you're changing your battery. So you may have accidentally damaged your key. If that's the case, you need a new one. New keys are not too terribly expensive. They're about 130-150, plus programming at the dealer. You can probably find the fob cheap through infiniti parts online, or ebay.

Do you have the second key still? Does that one work, if you do?

The key for my 05 Q45 is $700 at Infiniti! Can you believe that?! It's not even laser, or smart key. Just a giant hulk of plastic like Volvos. Same key used on the 03-04 M's... It's looking pretty shabby too, but I'm not spending that.
