My 2007 M35 for the past few weeks when and only when cold starting the engine would produce a squeaking noise for 20-30 seconds

If I rev the engine, RPM increase leads to louder belt squeak

Turning steering wheel does not change noise or produce noise once engine is warm

Turning AC on or off does not change noise or produce noise once engine is warm

What say you guys? Is this my fix?

If it's not the tensioner which belt would it be in my case?

Thanks in advance!

How many miles on your car? Is there tiny cracks in the belt? It sounds like a belt, I'd start there. If it was the tensioner I would imagine you'd here it even after it was warmed up.

Good news, there are quite a lot of threads on belt noise if my memory serves me right. Bad news - not a single one that I can recall has been closed by the OP posting the solution.

If the power steering system isn't changing anything, then I'd lean on the system with the other accessories.
1. Check this other belt for cracks/dryness (check both belts really, it's simple).
2. Check the tension, the belt might need to be tightened.
3. I think this is just more of an issue with the belt slipping than a bearing. A pulley bearing would be more or less constant, not just at startup. For this, the link you posted is for the V8 engine, but there might be another out there for the V6

Thanks for the inputs so far gents, my car has 130,000 miles on the odo

I will check the belts and their tension and report back my findings ... if there are only two belts hopefully the culprit will be easy to find

At 130kmi, assuming the belts have never been changed before, I would change them ASAP. I wrote a howto (in the FAQ thread) on how to do it. While you're in there, you can check the tensioner.

I changed my belts about 10k ago and it was super easy with the how to on this forum. I agree with Ilya on that, swapping them out would be an easy and cheap fix.
