Will the wiring instructions located on page 14 ......

zerothread/133024

.... for the 2006 model also work for the '07?

I ask because the hack references the NAV DVD in the glove box. While I do have that item, my DVD audio/video player is located in thearm rest center console. Wouldn't some sort of wiring need to be done at that loation as well?

This may all be moot. I do not know what items are in the 2006 model. If what I described for the 2007 model is the same for the '06, would I be correct in assuming that the hack will work for the new model?

Same $hit.. No need to do anything to the DVD player because you are not changing it...you are allowing the signal to pass thru the Nav while in motion by tricking the car into thinking its parked.

My dealer, who shall remain nameless, is setting me up 'off campus' so it's done correctly. The mod will include an enable/disable button.

That stuff voids the warranty, right? But to which?

I don't really know which would be voided.

nothing is void and you can do it with or with out a switch. Very simple mod.

Your dealer could be sued for offering that info. Stupid.

No pics sorry. It is a small toggle switch located to the right of the steering column up under the dash. Toggle towards the driver turns the screen on. Toggle away, off.

To access it, if you placed your right hand palm up under the dash and slid forward, you'd have to still lean down to the right of the steering wheel to reach the switch.

It is very well hidden by design, however it is uncomfortably out of reach. Not a switch you want to access while in heavy traffic or at high speeds.

I happen to know that this hack does not work for the M45 with dvd player in center console. It does work for everything else like phone and navigation but I still can't see the dvd movie while driving. Anyone know of a work around?

Mark I replied to your email. It does work. Its been done by tens of members. I think you wired something incorrectly or did not cut the correct wires. Check all your connections make sure a wire is not loose.

the hack does work. ive installed a few. the only thing is that some cars lose gps tracking or it lags and some cars gps/navi works fine. but as far as playing movies while driving, it works fine.

For some reason I went to do the hack myself and none of the wires matches as the pictures showed! Major bummer so beware incase yours is like mine and a few M's have different wiring pattersns for some reason.

I asked the dealer and they didn't have a clue, I am assuming that the previous owner had the DVD replaced for some reason.

Well then thats ya problem. You don't mess with the DVD player at all. You have to access the NAV in the glove box.

Ok so let me get this right, all the pictures and threads I have seen reference the Center console and I am now hearing that is wrong. What about all the pictures that have been posted about it?

Show me the links &/or pics you are referring to? All the ones I've seen for the 06/07 are correct and show pics of the Nav at the glove box.

Someone just recently posted about doing the hack on the 08 on another forum. He remove the center dash console where the radio is.

I know the G35,G37, FX,EX and 350Z for sure have it behind the center console not sure about the M. I would assume Infiniti built it the same way but that is just assuming.

If you look at the EX board they have a sticky for bypassing the ebrake. That might help. If you guys found the harness the rest should be same. It apears to have different colored wiring for even the same type of cars. Not sure why Infiniti did it. Maybe they ran out of the color they used.

Hope this helps.

For the '08 M, yes, (and any harddrive based Nav system Infiniti makes now)

For the 06-07 M that has a DVD-rom based NAV system in the glove box, no. The wire harness you need to splice is at the NAV behind the glove box not in the center console.

Just like in my '04 QX56, the nav is under the seat, you have to splice there.

So if we only want the parking brake mod for the video, does this still impact the navigation? I'm ready to jump all over this but like others have mentioned before, I'm trying to figure out why i'm modding wires behind the nav unit when my dvd player is in my armrest.

I'm also finding it hard to believe this cannot be defeated in the system menu somewhere.

Go back to ther "other' forum you posted on. Looked on about page 6 and you will see a post by a "phz angel" who did it in an '07. I personally did it on someone's 07 last week as a test...worked perfect the 1st time. I'm not usre what exactly your issue is and hard to diagnose w/o actually being there. Try rereading that whole thread and maybe contacting that member.

Well you can't hack the DVD video play and not hack the NAV. The DVD needs to have the parking brake & speed sensor override to work. nav only needs speed sensor. So if you do the DVD, by default you will get nav hack as well.

You mess with the wires behind the NAV because MOST people are trying to hack the nav in order to enter nav info while moving. I guess in theory you could hack the wires at the DVD assuming the color code is the same. Dunno, nobody that I know has looked into that.

I'm sure it could be overridden in the menu, but you have factory programmable device in order to link into the car's PC. You get your hands on one of those and know how to use it...you will become an Infiniti Internet god. So far, its been easier to take $15-30 min option to accomplish the same thing.
