2007 Infiniti M35x Navigation Problems

I took my M35x in for the Takata airbag recall and when I got the car back the Navigation and switches on the dashboard were not working. The dealer said it was a coincidence and it wasn't their fault.They said I needed a new Multi function switch assembly which costs $1000. Coincidence or should they be liable ? Feedback would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum...under crappy circumstances.

How long has it been since you got the car back? I would call Infiniti HQ and file a report, the BBB. I don't think it's a coincidence since they have to remove the dash as far as I know to do the airbag.

It happened about 5 days after I left the dealer.

If none of the switches are working, they may not have re-connected the cables behind the multi control switch. It's easy to get to (compared the usual nightmare of working on our cars) but the dealer MUST confirm by inspection that the cables are connected. If they did connect the multi-switch and it still doesn't work, Follow Ilya's advise. Your dealer may not be worried if you're upset, but corporate might see it differently.
If they will not replace the unit, definitely buy one from Ebay as 04pathse suggested. I have an extra multi switch that I bought on Ebay to replace a broken button. I connected it just to see if it works like the original and it does. They can be had for under $100 - just be sure you get the multi-switch that has the NAV buttons.
