While on the Interstate, I attempted to turn on my ICC. When I pressed the On/Off button, there was a beep and 2 cruise control lights (the normal green one and an orange one) displayed. The cruise control would not engage. I repeated the On/Off, Set Speed process several times, but had the same result. Later, I pulled off the Interstate for lunch and when I got back on the Interstate, pushed the ICC On/Off button again. Everything was back to normal and the ICC worked exactly as it should. Weird.

I checked the Owner's Manual and there was a note explaining what I had experienced, although it did not describe why it happens. The note said that if after stopping and restarting the engine the ICC did not correct itself, take it to the dealer.

Has anyone else experienced the ICC becoming inoperable and then after restarting the engine had it correct itself?

First I have heard of this!

I will look at the Service Manual and TSB's and see if I see anything related to this ...

Have not had the problem you describe. Were you driving into the sun? If there is direct sunlight in front of you that will disable the ICC if it was engaged and also prevent you from turning it on.

The event happened around noon, so I don't think direct sunlight was the issue. I would guess the ICC is pretty reliable, but this glitch must happen often enough for Infiniti to include a note about it in the Owner's Manual.

I did make sure I was well behind any car when attempting to engage the ICC. It just seemed that the ICC controller (?) froze up and needed a reboot. That happened when the engine was stopped and restarted.

Thanks for the info. I'll mention the problem when I take it in for its first service.

I believe the recall "VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN INTELLEGENT CRUISE CONTROL (ICC) REPROGRAM" is for the 06 models only.

I'm starting to get a little nervous. The problem with my ICC happened on Thanksgiving Day. Yesterday, again on the Interstate, the car started to make a warning beep. I had the Lane Departure Warning switched on. but was not crossing a lane marker. I didn't think to look, but as I remember, I believe the LDW light was on when the beeps sounded. The beeps sounded for about 2 seconds, stopped, then started again. This went on for a few minutes. I changed lanes, using my turn signal. No beep. Then the beeps started again. I took the next off ramp and got to a traffic signal. I stopped and started the engine. No dash lights were illuminated, including the nav screen. The light switch was on "Auto". I turned the switch to "Off", then back to "Auto". All the dash lights came back on. I drove the rest of the way home on city streets, so the LDW was not active because of low speed, but there were no more warning beeps and everything seemed normal.

I know I will not be able to duplicate any of these problems when I take my car into the dealer, so do you think these problems would have created any error codes which could be retrieved?

The problem may not be with the ICC.

If you like to drive with the VDC disengaged, which I do, the ICC automatically turns off and is disabled. I had to go to my dealer to find this out. - (great dealer, fortunately--and they chided me for not reading the manual).

The solution is to hold the cruise control button in for over 1.5 seconds...the ICC will convert back to Standard Cruise, which does work with the VDC turned off. Stays that way until you reengage VDC or turn off the car, when it reverts back to default.

Hope this helps. It drove me crazy until I swung by the dealer and asked their help...
