Guys, just a little note. The 2007 HP of 306 is actually a vast improvement from the 2006 engine. The old engine was rated on the previous SAE standard which let manufacturers basicly warp the numbers. The new standard creates a level playing field between all manufacturers so that when you compare stickers there is no cheating. This hurt some engines and helped others. A good example was the Cadillac STS-V that was coming out right as the standard was being released. It was announced that the engine would be 425 HP. Since, that engine was not in production prior to the new standard it was then rerated 469 HP. The 2007 Z should be a roughly 25-30 HP improvement over the previous engine rated under the old system.

I thought the actual improvement was closer to 15 but yeah the standard change effected the ratting of the increase

All we need is someone to dyno a stock '07 Z and see how it compares to an '06. That will tell the tale. FYI, my '07 Z is as fast as my last car, an '03 Mach 1 Mustang (305HP 4.6liter DOHC V8) which had a few mods such as a CAI, H-pipe (no cats), cat back exhaust, and I had a flash programmer which had a dyno tuned program in it. The car dynoed 311HP and 320Ft lbs to the rear wheels. It felt more "violent" and torquey than the Z, which is smooth and refined, but, the Z is definitly as fast if not faster. Need to take her to the 1/8 mile to find out just how she compares.

the dyno thing is tricky you need to be on the same dyno with both cars, and then you have to remember taht the whp is of course less than the chp, easy enough to back the matchup but you have to compare apples to apples

Yeah, I realize this, it would be best to have 2 cars that were done on a dyno day or something. The HP numbers from my Mach were from a Mustang Dyno and they were high compared to other guys on the Mach 1 forums, so, yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
