The problem with that article is that it is quite inaccurate. It pissed me off. Most of what they were speculating about has been more or less ruled in/out for a long time. Also, it's highly doubtful that the production model will have that body. They said it will look like the one in the photo. That wouldn't make much sense. Bit of a Nissan conflict of interest, selling two completely different cars with the same body. SCC is going downhill. Maybe I should cancel my subscription...

I ought to have the DR32 Skyline sorted by then, just in time to rip on these. Fugly V6 crapboxes.

Atleast it looks like the G35 and not the 350Z. I mean no offense to the 350, its a super hot car, but it can't hold a candle to the G35 Coupe in styling.

Dammit, it shouldn't look anything like either car.

Wait, so wtf has happened here? Is the 350Z based on the Skyline/G35, or is the Skyline based on the Z?

If it's the former, then the Z is dead, and is now and forever just a reworked Skyline.

If it's the latter, the Skyline is dead, and is now and forever just a reworked Z. Even worse, there is no more Skyline GT-R, now it's essentially a Z GT-R.

These cars should NOT share platforms, there's too little to differentiate them. Drivelines and engines do NOT different cars make, these should all just be different trim levels of the same car....

Since we all know the G35 is a Skyline, the GTR should look like the G35 IMHO. But, that new "GTR" picture makes it look like crud. I think a stock G35 looks way better than that new GTR picture.

Looks wider in the back which is good for some wider tires!

yup, scc has been sliding for sure. remember like 5 years ago when it was dirt cheap, thicker than a text book, and 95% technical info. shoot, it was mostly black and white sections of project car installments that got me to subscribe. that mag used to have like 5 project car updates per issue. now, they have all those darn columns about nothing, pics of stupid stuff, long term test cars, etc.

automobile? blech. road and track=de bizzomb

I still can't believe NIssan is going to give up building I-6s. Besides BMWs and maybe a couple others, the I-6 is nearly extinct. That's just my $.02.

so is the straight 8, does anybody miss it? The move towards compact cars with good balance makes incorperating a long inline motor increasingly difficult.

Automobile and Road and Track editors are all whiners. They'll overlook a major positive aspect of a car because the find the interior too cheap. And to them, every interior is too cheap. Every car review you read "great car, luxurious, smooth ride, but the interior is cheap. Minus 20%!" or "Great handling, sporty feel, gobs of power, but the interior is too plasticy, minust 40%!" After their reviews, an excellent car sounds like crap because the center console isn't high quality enough. It's a bit overboard, I think. If there's any plastic at all, it's too cheap. Unless it's in a Toyota, a MB or a BMW, because their salaries are enhanced by them.

I spent a lot of time picking up magazines off the shelf before I decided which to subscribe to. Car and Driver is the only one worth reading for me. The only problem there is they don't know jack about trucks.

And yes, I miss the L-6 and L-8. A lot. But now that engines are shared so widely, and now that FF drivetrains are so standard, an engine has to be small enough for transverse mounting. If I were an auto maker, I'd make a straight six for my sports cars just to show that we care enough about the car to make it unique to the lineup.
