What's up guys and girls!

I'm new to this forum. I purchase a 2007 G35x last month and I want to up grade the wheels. I'm think of putting 19" wheels. I have 2 questions.

1. Will the 19" wheels affect the way the car handles?

2. I just heard that the wheels on a G35x, can't be staggered. Does anyone know exactly why?

ThanksGeo

I heard the same thing about my 05 35X sedan. I think it's simply because it's AWD. But let me know what you find. I'm actually putting up 20", 19" are too expensive and the 1 inch wouldn't make that much of a difference in the ride.

I am looking at getting some 19s or 20s and in the same boat as you. I have heard you can't stagger on the G35X, but some of the world's finest cars are AWD with staggered wheels. Can the wheelwells on the rear take a wider tire like the coupe can? Maybe that is the issue. 245 width tire maybe the widest you can put?

Why do you want a staggered tire setup?

Its much more costly and annoying. And with an AWD car with 300Hp, you don't have to worry about breaking your tires loose.

You are not going to need wider tires to get traction when trying to launch hard especially since it's an automatic.

The Nissan/Infiniti awd system is based off of reaction to road conditions unlike many other AWD systems in the market. So I am guessing that if the engineers didn't put a staggered setup on the car to begin with, I am betting one of the reasons is because of the sensitivity of the system and reactions to the road.

Great point!! You're right, I've driven a regular G35 sedan before and now own a 35x, there is a difference you can definitely feel. The car hugs the road and turns impecably with no problems, so there is no need for a staggered setup. Another reason why I don't want a staggered setup is because I'm putting 245-35-20 series tires all around with non directional tires, in order to rotate all tires at will and have even wear on all tires. There are limitations on rotating a staggered setup, that is if you can.

Great point. No staggered wheels for me. Kazaam, have you narrowed down your wheel choices?

I am in the same situation as you I have an 07 G35X and I was wondering if it is possible to have two different size of rims (Front:19x8.5 ET38 Rear:19x9.5 ET45 ).... Would it mess up the AWD functions?and also could i drop the car jus a little ?

Please don't. Use the same size all around.

honestly where there is a will..there is a way...but your going to sacrifice a lil perfomance...im sure you probably wont care as much like I did when they told me that my 20's were going to ruin my smoothness on my car...it made sense but my car shakes way too much...do whats reasonable and take what other people that have a "X" in consideration because I was also there and I wanted stagger...but i later found out I couldnt cuz it was an AWD and the placing of the axle or something in that nature...good luck tho

I did not change the rims I only replaced the tires for a Falken 912. I've seen staggered look tire on X but it is a special made. It isn't really staggered but looks like that. I can't tell you where I've seen it. Sorry
