hi all. I am very new to this so if I say something wrong, I apologize.

I just bought my 07 G35X with the Bose Studio On Wheels package, but I was told after I bought it that the head unit (with GPS, Voice Activation, Blue tooth, XM, etc) is a Clarion head unit. The entire sound system sounds terrible... no highs and no lows... but a ton of midrange. Has anyone replaced either the Bose speakers (Bose says I cannot do this or it will disconnect all other features), or the Clarion head unit (that only works with the Bose speakers as I was told by Bose)?

I need to find a solution for this $4,000 sound system sucks and it kills me to listen to it. I know I should have spent the time listening to it before buying it... but I never thought I would be told 'I cannot make any changes to it or it won't work' either. Thank you in advance. Ken in Connecticut

Well if you asked about Bose I think we would have told you about the highs and the lows. On a more serious note, yes you without question can change the speakers ect out on that car. Most likely you will need an amplifier some new speakers and perhaps a sub depending on what you want it to sound like. Where are you in CT? Might be able to recommend a good shop near you.

hi. Thank you so much for replying... I live near New Haven, CT. Bose told me that the head unit (Clarion) will not work with any other speakers for they were designed for this speaker system only. I used to have 8 Alpine R's with two amps and a sub in my Volvo 850T and it was the most perfect sounding system I ever experienced... so much for upgrading. haha

I will so appreciate your advice!

Thanks. Ken

It's more that they don't want you messing with it than anything. I'd check out high fidelity autosport in newington, they do some great work. Talk to Kane and he'll get you a good idea of what it would cost to fix it.
