Hey guys, I'm looking to buy an AWD version, the new G35X, and I was wondering what the ride quality is going to be like...I have heard from some sites that the ride is very harsh and bumpy. I currently drive a 2006 Accord Coupe, Im not looking for something as plush as a Lexus but I don't want to feel every pebble in the road either. As long as the ride is softer than the Accord, I guess it will be fine..The AWD has stock 17" wheels. I also understand that the stiffness of the chassis benefits the ride quality as well..Can anyone offer any input as far as what ride quality and road/wind noise to expect?

I've taken it over 90mph and I have absolutely no complaints, hard to tell the difference between 55mph and 90mph if the cars around me weren't going so slow. No wind noise as far as I can tell. Car drives very tight (even at faster speeds)and responds even at higher RPMs, love it, can't wait to throw some mods in it.

My g35x is a much better ride then my Altima - as far as "very harsh and bumpy" I really don't know what to say, it comes down to opinion/preference. The only "softer" ride I've been on is SUVs, but my guess is because they have so much damn wall on those tires energy is dispersed more.

How about the low speed ride quality? like pot holes and uneven pavement? any rattles or noises over harsh bumps?

Will you know your going over a NYC pothole? yeah, will you know that your over uneven payment? Hard to say, the car comes with independent suspension so everything is always felt less - I suggest take it for a spin before you buy.

Here's my 2 cents.

Bought my wife an 07 g35x and she loves it, as do I. I normally drive a Boxster during the non-snow & salt weather which has 18 inch wheels. It is fairly stiff and follows the road cracks. Cannot image hitting a good size pothole with the Boxster, it would be destroyed or at least all my teeth would fall out. The G35x, with the taller suspension, seems to absorb most bumps.

The G35x rides like a 95 BMW 325is coupe with 17" M3 wheels I once owned. It is compliant, but not as soft as a Honda or Camry. There are no rattles inside the G35x. It is very quiet except for the exhaust and intake sound when accelerating!!! Pretty intoxicating rush of power!

My wife actually said that she felt the G35x had a little too much body roll around corners. I attribute to the weak and odd sized 225-55-17 tires and slightly taller springs.

Hope that helps Steve

Something tells me the G should be more compliant than my 06 Accord coupe, I dont know if you have driven it, but it rides VERY choppy. I had a 91' 240sx that rode softer than that. Honda does not make its suspensions as plush as before...or maybe because its just a coupe. I was also worried about the quality issues in the new G that I have read about, such as wind noise, leaking windows, squeaks and rattles...but I guess these were the bad apples in the bunch. what other cars can you compare the ride of the new G to? all help is appreciated

I just wrote a previous response, but my WIFI crashed and I lost the message. So here is another posting.

I have not driven an Accord coupe. I have a Boxster with 18 in wheels and sport suspension, an 02 Passat with Koni sport suspension and 17 inch wheels, then I have my wife's 07 G35x in stock form.

The Passat is the most jittery on bumps and you really feel big bumps. My wife recently flattened one of the front rims on a pothole.

The Boxster is firm and has a habit of following cracks and lines in the road.

The G35x rides the best or should I say smoothest of the bunch. When you hit a bump, you feel it, but it does not jar your fillings loose! I will install lower profile tires and see if the ride suffers at all. I don't want the G35x too stiff, afterall it will be our highway cruiser for long trips. Maybe a set of larger sway bars with the larger tires will do the tuning trick. I think a set of sport springs and shocks will make it too firm. The car's body is definitely tight and no rattles. I think the body is overpowering the tall tires and springs. Just my opinion. It is sorta like my 95 BMW 325is I used to have. Before I added the M3 wheels and Dinan chip, etc...you know the chassis can do more, but the stuff holding it to the road is weak.

I would have bought the rear wheel drive G35, but in New England you take your chances in the winter time with rear wheel drive!

I'm looking at either the G35x or an IS350 myself ..... took a G35x out Saturday, pretty sweet I must say, even in snow …… took out the IS350 last Wednesday and liked it as well.

The G35x seems a little harsher than my present IS300 but I think that’s a good thing. Ride quality is such a subjective thing it will be hard for anyone to convince you for sure one way or the other.

The G35x is supposed to be less “tight” than the G35 sport ….. drive them both at see which you like best !!!

since you are driving accord 2006 coupe, you can expect about same ride quality as accord.

g35x & g35s appear to have same suspension setup, but the feel of steering & the riding quality difference might be coming solely from the different wheel size & tires.

because my experience in g35x is limited, i cannot say much but ride is considerably smoother than g35s.

Somehow i think it will be smoother than the accord due to the added weight and stiffer body.
