Hey everyone, new here....just a few questions, hope someone can answer...

Just wanted to know if it's possible to buy the GPS module for a 2007 g35x...didn't want to spend 3000 CDN for the package....

Next, I guess even more important than the first question...is my vehicle without GPS already hardwired for the module....it already has the screen....?

Thanks

I don't know the answer to this question, but I did want to mention that the buttons on the non-nav version of the control center (not sure what this is called, but it's the set of controls right below the screen) are actually different to those in the Nav version. There are several more buttons in the nav version of the car. So if this is possible, it would require some hardware changes other than the nav software module.

If you can't do that one and have to get an external nav, I would highly recommend the Garmin C550. Prior to this car I had that and it was fantastic and probably more intuitive to use than the built in one in the G35 (don't get me wrong, I think the integrated one is good, but this one was better). It has the nav traffic just like the g35 navi system does (except it's fm based instead of xm based - but both come from the same source - navtech, as far as I know). It has a touch screen and is extremely intuitive.

Naturally you lose out on the very nice integration, but it is still very convenient.

Thanks for answering my post.

I hate the idea of someone messing around with the existing hardware (drilling, sawing, etc) so you're probably on the mark about getting a non-integrated system, but I have been told it can be done by just buying the module; but that's supposing the person was right. I have been doing searches online for the actual module online to see if it can be bought and I haven't had any luck. I went to BestBuy and they told me it could be done as well, but I'd have to buy the hardware from Infiniti. Sucks....

I know that you're right about the button configuration, but how many more buttons do you need? As far as I remember you only need the 'Map' button....
