Recently (at about 17,000 miles) it seems like whenever I have to hit the brakes harder than normal, the transmission shifts down a step and the engine revs higher to act like a Jake Brake. Is this a "learned behavior" on the 07's as I do not recall it happening before, nor do I remember it on my other 3 G's? Or am I just in a fog (again) Just curious?

Hahahaha

Well my 07 did that too me most of the time. My 08 only does it when it is in ds. It is the ECU. Well it is you who is teaching the ECU. I drive mine in M mostly and sometimes in DS. If you do a lot of stop and go fast it does it harder and harder.

I think we can call it normal.

You can feel it or see it on the rpm too even if you drive it a bit slower pace.

All of the loaners that I've driven did this. Kind of helpful, kind of annoying.

Yep it's normal, I think they call it Rev Matching to ease wear on the brakes it applies the Overrun clutch and shifts to third to help you decelerate faster. I really like the feature it works well when going through hard corners once you let off the brake and get back on the gas it's ready to go.
